Description:

This photo was taken at the Badlands National Park lodge.  The lodge has a nice restaurant, really nice gift shop and guests stay in small, quaint tourist cabins behind the main building.  This photo shows a teepee which maybe tourists could stay in.  Behind the teepee is a small mountainous range called "The Wall".  Badlands has a loop road which winds among small mountains and canyons of loose stone with varied color.  The whole place has an "other worldly" or lunar surface quality.  We had reservations to stay at the lodge for a few days but really had seen the entire park in a two or three hour drive, so we cut our stay short to spend more time to the west in the Black Hills.  We're glad we did.  The Badlands is a one-day wonder and worth seeing.
