  • Yeah Vietnam is a photographer's paradise with plenty of fascinating landscape, people, religion and hisstory to photograph.  Although they remember the slaughter and devastation of the high-tech war that America waged on their innocent people (they teach their children about it in their schools about the My Lai massacre, Agent Orange poisoning, B-52 carpet bombing, American troops burning down whole villages, napalm air raids, etc., etc. - see it all exhibited at the Cu Chi Viet Cong Tunnels tourist attraction near Saigon/HCMC!), the current generation of Vietnamese citizens generally forgot about it and welcome American as well as other Western/Caucasian tourists warmly!

Description:

Outside of the seaside town of Mui Ne in southern Vietnam is a tributary known as "Fairy Stream". I scrambled up a sandy incline just in time to catch a Vietnamese woman walking along the stream bed, bringing rice to the market at Ham Tien. For me, though, this shot is all about the color contrasts. It's like they're facing off against each other.
