The eastern coast of Kalaupapa National Historical Park, where people with Hansen's Disease (leprosy) were once abandoned. It takes a lot of time to get to this national park site -- several flights -- hours of layovers in tiny airports -- but it is a memorable place combining human misery and hope with natural beauty and isolation.
