Description:

Starting in the Yukon, the Alsek River runs all the way down to the Gulf of Alaska. It offers on of the best river treks in the world. I had the privilege to do this trip in June 2009. We camped for two of the twelve days of the trek across the river from the Tweedsmuir Glacier. On the second evening while I was watching with some friends, the whole face of the glacier calved into the Alsek only a few hundred meters away from us! The sound, the sight, the energy: it was unforgettable. Then, to top off the event, this beautiful rainbow appeared above the glacier for a brief moment.
