Description:

A view of Sugar Loaf Mountain and Rio taken from the Corcovado, Metro Rio's highest point, in front of the outstreched arms of the 125' statue of 'Christ the Redeemer'. My wife and I visited Rio in August in celebration of our 40th wedding Anniversary. The Corcovado is reached by taking a 30 minute 'cog' train up a steep incline to the top. Rio is called home by no fewer than 17 million people, and boasts several excellent beaches including Copacabana and Ipenema. We stayed in the magnificent JW Marriott Hotel, right on Copacabana Beach and we really enjoyed watching numerous Brazillian style beach volleyball games, skillfully using everything 'but' the hands.
