Description:

The Dolmabahce Palace in Istanbul is beautiful on both the interior and exterior.  The grounds are large and are surrounded by walls with ornate gates like the one above where a lone Turkish soldier stands guard at the gate on the Sea of Maramar.  I wonder what he thinks as he gets to guard this tremendous view everyday.  Tough duty!  The hills across the narrow sea are in Asian Istanbul.
