Genesee COuntry Village Mumford, New York...Our niece Alex was staying with us over the summer, needing an activity to keep her occupied during the day, I enrolled her in an 18th century "summer camp". She is from an urban area and we wanted to give her a feel for rural life. Genesee Country Village provided that opportunity. Every morning she dressed in period clothing and spent the day "working" on the farm. She helped build fences, deliver wood to the rest of the village, cared for the farm animals - sheep, goats, chickens and cows and played without laptops, cell phones or cable TV. The last day, we were able to join the children for a farewell picnic and I snapped this photo of Alex saying goodbye to one of her favorite farm animals...
