I.M. Pei caught a lot of flack for designing his pyramid at the entrance of the Louvre. The inspector in “The DaVinci Code” called it; “A scar of the face of Paris.” But look at the symmetry here. It lines up beautifully with the courtyard of the Louvre. His restructuring of the entrances is a vast improvement over the way it used to be and makes it much easier to find what you are looking for. This is a building that has been designed and re-designed for centuries. A good tip is to buy the museum pass at another museum and enter at the Richelieu entrance. This allows you to avoid any line. Also the museum is open until 10:00 on Wednesday and Fridays. This lets you visit the museum and take a long break before going back.
