Tourist Geekin' Out in Egypt

After several solo days in Cairo and Alexandria, I had just joined my small adventure tour group in Cairo to start a two week adventure along the entire length of the Nile in Egypt. Our first stop was the Giza plateau and Pyramids. I was the only American in the group of Australians, British, Canadians, New Zealanders and Chinese. Although we had been together less one hour, we had already agreed as a group we wouldn't participate or take any overtly touristy or cliche pictures. I think the agreement must have held up for only 20 minutes, when we asked an America to take our picture in front of the Pyramids. The first two shots went off with out a hitch and then he asked us to pose like "walk like an egyptian". Not one of us in the group hesitated to get in the pose. I guess being a tourist can be fun sometimes!
