The U.S.S. Arizona memorial at Pearl Harbor, Hawaii is a very somber place. I wanted to capture an image that would show respect for all those who had died on that day. Just taking a picture of the names on the wall was too static, and didn't give the impression I was seeking. I noticed many had left leis in memory of dead loved ones. So I kneeled down to capture the flowers (representing the love of the living for those who had died), the wall of names (to honor the dead), the flag (to show they died in service to their country), and the window (representing the hope for peace). I took the photo July 14, 2002 during our three week dream trip to Hawaii (it was our first visit to Hawaii, and Pearl Harbor was the first stop on our itinerary).
We weren't sure if there was a fire in the mountains or a storm rolling in. We soon found out. STORM!
Some of the best Sushi, according to my husband. Taken at a wonderful restaurant in one of the Kahala's 3 restaurants.
Sushi at Roy's in Oahu.
Such a beautiful place. The waters are crystal blue and the vibe is super cool!
Looking out over Ala Moana Blvd toward Waikiki.
I should say one of the Mokulua islands. I took this picture from a ridge that you had to climb up. A neat hike but if you are at all uneasy about high places forget it. I have a picture of both of the islands in a shot from the beach during sunrise and the day in some of my other photos.
Late afternoon rainbow in downtown Honolulu, Oahu, Hawaii
We were thoroughly entertained here at Sea Life Park on the Hawaiian island of Oahu. We went to specifically see the wholphin and were pleased to find so much going on in the park. We fed the sea turtles, watched the dolphin show, attended a talent show performed by the sea lions, and enjoyed a nice snack, too!

The day after a severe storm hit Oahu my wife and I drove around the island. We came across a surfing competition on the North Shore. The surf was tremendous. Only seasoned surfers were in the water that day. We sat in the sand with the locals watching the competition. When everyone packed up and left there was this lone wooden surf board left behind.
