  • Paris

    • From: gdetennis
    • Description:

Our daughter Danielle always wanted to go to France. She even took French so she could speak the language for the day she would go to France.

I told her that if she could get through four years of high school with straight A's we'd take her to Paris for her 18th birthday/graduation gift.

Well she made it through high school with straight A's and even graduated the top of her class. So it was off to Paris.

We rented an apartment a couple blocks from the Eiffel Tower, and it even had a view from the loft window of the tower for us to use as a night light each and every night.

      Here is our trip.

    • From: BurnhamInk
    • Description:

Paddling historic Onancock Creek is the best way to see this small 1680 Colonial port. This is authentic small town Virginia, where there are no chain stores and people wave or nod to you on the street. International eateries, unique shops and cozy B&Bs are just a short walk from the wharf.

  • Bull Shark Feeding in FIJI

    • From: manalihassan
    • Description:
This is one of my most memorable dives. On those dives, we were looking for Tiger, Bull, White Tip,... Sharks. It is majestic!. We encountered a huge Bull Shark . A piece of food fell next to our legs and he was headed there, passing over my head and then redirected elsewhere when the divemaster quickly removed the food and threw it away. This is when I took the picture of the Bull Shark. In the background, there was Silver Tip and Black tip reef sharks, I am also showing pictures of my fellow divers as well as some pictures at the very end to show the colors under water. On land, I am showing the formation of KAVA. A sort of sedative drink made from a fruit and you are asked if you want a low tide, a high tide or Tsunami. Everywhere we were greeted by "BULA" meaning hello and good-bye by the very friendly Fiji people. On the plane to FIJI, there were dozens of army soldiers coming from Iraq and heading towards their country Tonga, a neighbouring island. They were wearing T shirts saying "support our troops" and featuring the american flag.

  • Crocodile

    • From: Macinfla
    • Description:
We saw this small crocodile while touring the Tempesque River in Costa Rica. Our guide said that there are over 200 crocodiles per lineal mile in this river. Unfortunately, the sound of the boat warns most of them of our approach, so we only saw a few. We love the way this one practically blends into the mud of the river.

  • Howler Monkey Family

    • From: Macinfla
    • Description:
We found these howler monkeys on the Monkey Trail in the Guanacaste province of Costa Rica. We like the way that the family moves from one tree to the next, with the father going first to make sure it is a secure limb and then waiting for the mother with the baby on her back. Some of the noises you hear are the monkeys, but mostly it is a tourist trying to get them to make the noise. These monkeys mainly "howl" in the early hours of the morning when we were trying to sleep.

  • Costa Rica Road Hazard

    • From: Macinfla
    • Description:

When we rented the car we'd wondered why the contract specifically stated that driving through water would void our insurance coverage. So, when we reached this point on the Monkey Trail, we had a decision to make. With no cell phone, no auto club to rescue us and apparently no insurance we did eventually drive on to make our way to the white sandy beach of Playa Penca. Later the locals told us this was just what they call a Costa Rican car wash!

  • Traffic Jams and Open Roads

    • From: aimeefan
    • Description:
We went to South Africa to escape the rat race from the city. We had planned to do whale watching, shark diving, walking up mountains, the whole gamut. Anything but sitting in traffic. It had rained for a full week when we all our weather-dependent activities were called off like our misty Yankee games back in New York. We came to see the animals, but only saw the human kind. So after visiting the winelands on the way to the Garden Route, we were stopped in the road by a troop of baboons! Through our windows we saw mothers, fathers, brothers, sisters, babies...cleaning each other, feeding, playing, jumping and just being themselves. We watched in silence and wanted to get out and say hi. But we knew to stay in our seats. They were kind of oblivious to us but knew we were visiting. It was their road anyway. We looked at each other and realized we've been involved in a special, moving experience. As we drove off on their high-way we went on our way....
