    The view from our patio. We visited the Windermere Island Club as hurricane season was ending and before the club was officially open. During our 2 weeks there we saw a total of 7 people on the 5 mile long beach twice. Otherwise, we were usually the only people there.

    A beach front home on Windermere Island. This home was directly north of the Windermere Island Club and reportedly owned by Lady Astor. Queen Elizabeth's cousin owned a house directly across the street from this house and British royalty frequented the island for casual vacations. As I said in a previous post, we were not the type of people who were supposed to vacation here; not a hoi polloi place. Don't know how the house may have survived the hurricanes of the late 00's.

    The Atlantic coast off Windermere Island at the Windermere Island Club, a private club on a private island off of Eleutra. The club has reportedly been largely destoyed by a hurricane in about 2009. The club had been designed to appeal to European royalty and businessmen and entertained Lady Di and Prince Charles. In fact, Prince Phillip had visited the night before we arrived; we were staying for free and were some of those people not normally allowed.
