Your trip is more than learning to navigate Los Angeles airport parking. If you are planning to fly in or out of Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) you may need to book accommodation in a local hotel. From time to time travelers may also experience delays which require them to stay overnight in order to board a later flight. Whatever the reason, there is no shortage of hotels available within a reasonable distance to LAX airport.  We’ve chosen some of our favorites and provided some information to assist you. You can also visit CheapAirportParking.org which provides resources and customer reviews for parking at quality hotels in the area.

      Courtyard Los Angeles LAX/Century Boulevard

This hotel is conveniently located right beside Los Angeles International Airport which is both a convenience and a detriment to a good night of sleep. While it is a beautifully appointed hotel with exceptional service, if you are a light sleeper opt to reserve at a hotel a little further away. The sound of the airport (including landing planes) can make for a restless night of sleep. Aside from the noise, the Courtyard Los Angeles is a clean and very affordable place to stay.

If you have never stayed in a boutique hotel before you are in for a real treat. Relax or get social in the mod 1960’s styled hotel that “puts the glamour and fun back in air travel”. A preferred destination the hotel provides a complimentary shuttle to the airport. Your flight status can be checked from the hotels LAX Lounge. The six social lounges in the hotel are all named for air travelers including: Layover Lounge, Transonic, LAX Lounge, Stratosphere, Duty Free and Axis Annex.

      LAX Embassy Suites Hotel

This hotel is the only one that specializes in all-suite accommodation and is a great choice for people who are travelling in groups or large families. They offer complimentary 24-hour airport shuttle service which leaves every twenty minutes. It is a prestigious location and near Downtown Los Angeles, Hollywood, Beverly Hills and the South Bay area. Free beverages and snacks at the evening Managers reception events and a very well equipped business center and high speed internet.

      Hilton Los Angeles Airport

If you are looking for luxury and a pet-friendly hotel, consider reserving in the Hilton Los Angeles Airport. It is also known as being one of the better sound proofed hotels in the area. While it’s located very close to the airport, you won’t hear a sound.

      Holiday Inn Express

If you are looking for affordability first, reserve at the Holiday Inn Express. They offer reasonable rooms at very competitive rates and a free 24-hour shuttle service to LAX.

Remember to always book early to ensure you get a room and provide notice for cancellation to avoid fees. Remember if you are looking for cheap LAX parking to check online for reservations and availability.

  • Exploring Budapest: Day 1 Exploring Budapest: Day 1

    • From: lavenderdays
    • Description:

Flying all the way from Los Angeles, my mom and I arrived in Budapest at 9 in the morning - fun.  After making our way to the hotel, we ended up passing out for a good 3 hours on the extremely comfortable beds in our room.

Miraculously, we were able to wake up and force ourselves to go outside and explore, despite the major jet lag. About 10 seconds after stepping outside, the blue sky quickly vanished and it started pouring so we ran into a cafe close to the hotel and hid out there for a good hour.

I was eager to try some Hungarian food so I ordered goulash soup which was really delicious. I’m no food expert so I’m not quite sure if there are several different kinds of goulash but mine had beef, potatoes, carrots, and onions in it. I’d definitely recomend trying it if you’re ever in Hungary! Unfortunately, I only ate goulash once while I was there because the rest of the week was extremely hot and who the hell wants to eat soup when it’s 90 degrees out?

The rain stopped after an hour and sunshine returned so we decided to walk around the city a bit to get an idea of where everything is. We walked long the Danube River, passed the gorgeous Parliament building, and ended up around St. Stephen’s Basilica which is surrounded by beautiful shops and cafes.

Jet lag got the best of us again and we ended up returning to the hotel and falling asleep by 8:30. Yeah. Party animals.

  • ::LAKERS FANS VISITING LA:: ::LAKERS FANS VISITING LA::

    • From: ajjordan2
    • Description:

Los Angeles LakersYou won’t see as much purple and gold together in one place as you will on a visit to the Staples Center during a Lakers game. Fans turn out in huge numbers, most decked out in their bright Lakers regalia. The game is very theatrical and fun with film banners floating down at the start of the game, and purple and gold confetti bursts after a successful win. The collective sighs and applause will draw you in and make you feel like a real “Angeleno”-one of the reasons why seeing a Lakers game is the perfect LA experience. Seeing basketball phenoms, Kobe Bryant, Steve Nash, Dwight Howard, and Metta World Peace is momentous in itself.

Here are some suggestions for Lakers fans visiting LA and how to navigate through the city, see the game, and what to do afterwards.

      Nearby Hotels

      JW Marriott L.A. Live

Perhaps the best option for serious Lakers fans is the 54-story, 878-suite JW Marriott. The hotel is located adjacent to the Staples center within L.A. Live; a quick 1 or 2 minute walk will plant you right at the box office. The JW currently has two packages for visitors to Los Angeles, including the Show Your Stub and Stay Package”, which includes discounted room rates, complimentary valet parking, breakfast for two at the hotel’s restaurant (LA Market), and 15 percent off food and beverages at select merchants. The “I Love L.A. LIVE Package” includes luxury accommodations with views of the LA skyline, overnight valet parking and a choice of two L.A. LIVE experiences:

      • Two GRAMMY Museum tickets
      • Two games of bowling with shoe rental at Lucky Strike Bowling
      • Two movie tickets at Regal Cinemas
      • Two $5 ESPN Zone game cards

(Rates for both packages start at $259/night)

      www.lalivemarriott.com

      Figueroa Hotel

The Figueroa Hotel is located across the street from the Staples center and is great option for affordable accommodations (rates start at $148 with overnight parking at $12 a night). The property is Moroccan themed throughout, with plush velvet furniture, earth toned décor and colorful lamps. The moment you walk through the iron gates and into the front door, you feel as though you were transported from downtown LA into North Africa. This is a great choice for a fun, themed stay in Los Angeles. Check out the sultry Figueroa suites, “Casablanca”, “Badia”, and “Marrakech”- perfect for a romantic visit.

      www.figueroahotel.com

      Millennium Biltmore Hotel

The 683-room hotel is located less than a mile away from the Staples center, making it a quick 5 minute cab ride. The hotel has preserved its 1920’s ambiance from the gold and fabric chairs to the elegant drapes in each room. The hotel amenities include a health club with fitness equipment, sauna, jacuzzi, steam room and an original Roman-style indoor pool. The “Now, Then, and Again” package includes overnight accommodations, the popular afternoon Tea for two, and 2 tickets to the Los Angeles Conservancy's hosted walking tour of the Biltmore (rates start at $199/night). The “Classic Biltmore” package includes accommodations in a Classic Room, and your choice of either valet parking or breakfast buffet for two at Smeraldi’s restaurant ($179/night).

       www.millenniumhotels.com/Biltmore

      Transportation to the Game

      Metro

If you choose to stay outside of downtown Los Angeles, the best no-hassle way to get to the Staples center is via Metro. The Metro Expo Line will drop you 2 blocks from the stadium, and therefore you don’t have to deal with the varying traffic downtown. Take the Expo Line to Pico station and walk over.

      Driving

The West Garage (Lot W, Gate B) offers flat rates of $10-$25 for parking 3.5 hours or more. You can purchase prepaid tickets online (Pre-paid Parking). Also, there are various parking lots located across from L.A. Live that start at $10 and up flat rates. There is a chance you may find street parking a few blocks from the stadium if you arrive early.

The Game is Over, Whats Next?

       Bikes & Hikes LA

Bikes & Hikes LA is an ecotourism company located in West Hollywood that implements non-polluting, active ways to show you the city. They have a range of tours for you to choose from, including the “Legendary Homes Tour”, where you will see dwelling places of stars such as Marilyn Monroe, Lucille Ball, and the mansion where Michael Jackson died.

      Restaurants & Bars

There are a variety of trendy restaurants and bars located in the popular areas of downtown LA, West Hollywood, Hollywood, Santa Monica, and Beverly Hills. A popular bar for after a Lakers game is Yard House located at LA Live. There is late-night happy hour during the weekdays starting at 10pm. Other popular Los Angeles restaurants include Roscoe’s Chicken & Waffles and Wolfgang Puck.

  • ::: OneTravel.com: A Portal to ::: OneTravel.com: A Portal to Cheap flights & All-Inclusive Vacations!!! :::

    • Description:

Airplane_SkyscannerOneTravel.com “offers travel deals for today's internet savvy user, allowing users to book discounted flights, hotels, vacation packages, and activities with the ease of today's high speed internet.”

I booked flights from Los Angeles to Washington, DC via OneTravel.com, and I found the site to be easily navigable as well as cheaper than most other airline search engines. One cool feature about the travel site is that you can search for cheap tickets by destination or by airline:

      Example of Miami destination search:

      http://www.onetravel.com/cheap-flights/miami-mia-florida-deals

Example of AirTran airline destination search:

      http://www.onetravel.com/travel/airlines/airtranairways-fl.html

Sometimes after I book my flights, I continue to search other deals across the web to see if I indeed found the cheapest rate. On OneTravel.com, they have a “Low Fare Promise”, where if you find a lower fare on OneTravel or another search engine within 4 hours, they will credit you the difference! If you find a lower fare in 4-24 hours after booking, they will send you a $50 coupon for a future booking on OneTravel.com.

OneTravel.com offers some exciting and great deals on all inclusive holiday packages:

  • Skyscanner: An Easy & Painless Skyscanner: An Easy & Painless Airfare Search!

    • From: ajjordan2
    • Description:

SkyscannerI stumbled across a hidden gem while looking to book my upcoming holiday flights. Perhaps the holidays are the most nerve-wracking time to purchase airfare, but thanks to Skyscanner, it made the process easy and painless.

Skyscanner.net is a global travel search site that is unique in that it allows you to compare millions of flights over a thousand airlines, and find the cheapest flights available. The process is easy breezy, as you ultimately book your flight directly with the airline, and not through Skyscanner. You can also look online over specific months or the entire year to find the best rates.

Thankfully, Skyscanner not only browses the major airlines, but they search with the budget airlines within each country as well. This is really useful for when I travel within Europe, and want to use a budget airline to go from one country to the next.

They also offer multi bookings or ‘non-guaranteed transfers’, where you can find the cheapest options to fly with different airlines for each leg of your trip. Also, if you are in indecision about where you want to travel, you can select a city you want to fly out of and put “everywhere” in the destination box. They will show you the cheapest destinations available!

Las Vegas via SkyscannerAnother  cool feature on the site is the “Explore” page, which allows you to view cheap flights to popular destinations in not only the United States, but in most continents of the world. For example, clicking on “Cheap Flights to Las Vegas” will show deals from popular cities such as Los Angeles, Denver, Dallas, and Oakland.

Clicking on “Cheap Flights to Paris” will yield results from cities such as New York, Detroit, Chicago, and many others.

Outside of airfare, Skyscanner also allows you to search for deals in rental cars, hotels, holidays and insurance. The website is very popular as they have over 25 million visitors every month. Make sure you download the Skyscanner app on your smart phone and start searching today!

  • Weekend Retreat to The Hotel W Weekend Retreat to The Hotel Wilshire!

    • From: ajjordan2
    • Description:

The Hotel WilshireI went on an awesome local retreat to The Hotel Wilshire in Los Angeles. I took advantage of their 2-night “Weekend Getaway Package” (sometimes the perfect getaway can be found right in your backyard)! The hotel celebrated their 1 year anniversary last month (they opened September, 2011). They are located at Wilshire and Crescent Heights Blvd; a great spot for accommodations because you are central to downtown LA, Beverly Hills, Hollywood and West Hollywood; within a 5-10 minute drive to each city.

This is a true boutique hotel, as although it is on the main thoroughfare of Wilshire, it isThe Hotel Wilshire almost tucked away and easy to miss. However, the privacy and exclusivity of the property is a good reason why many people enjoy visiting the hotel and rooftop restaurant. The Weekend Getaway Package included a welcome bottle of champagne, free valet parking, late checkout at 2pm, complimentary internet, and access to the rooftop restaurant and pool.

The Hotel WilshireThe Hotel Wilshire contains 55 Guestrooms and 19 Suites, including a rooftop penthouse suite. One of the main attractions to the property is their rooftop restaurant, The Roof on Wilshire, which offers panoramic views of the Los Angeles skyline and Hollywood Hills. The pool is located in the middle of the venue, and is available for lounging during the day.  The expansive menu is prepared by celebrity chef, Eric Greenspan, who describes the selection as "Vibrant American, with innovative and creative twists on classic comfort foods”.

I had dinner at the restaurant on a Saturday night, and arrived around 6pm. This was theThe Hotel Wilshire perfect time to catch the sunset and experience the city transition from light to dusk. The restaurant was near capacity at this time, and they attracted many upscale patrons. From the menu, I chose an appetizer of fried calamari, a main dish of Mahi Mahi with a side of kale. All were savory and prepared with maximum flavor. My favorite cocktail was The Mulberry, a blend of raspberry vodka, berries, lime, topped with sparkling wine. The Dark & Stormy mule was a great choice as well. Of course, the best part of the evening was the awe-inspiring view of the city.

MOCASince I am a pro-football fan, I found most convenient the new sports bar located next door to the hotel (The Varsity LA Sports Bar & Lounge). It was nice to be able to walk a few steps, catch a game, and return to the comfort of the hotel. Also located close to the hotel are The Grove shopping center, Los Angeles Museum of Contemporary Art, Peterson Automotive Museum, La Brea Tar Pits, The El Rey Theater, Craft + Folk Art Museum and Architecture and Design Museum.

The Hotel Wilshire is an upscale retreat for enjoying good food, lounging by the pool, and experiencing the many attractions surrounding the property.

  • A short overview of Los Angele A short overview of Los Angeles

    • From: steveven
    • Description:

Los Angeles, often known by its initials L.A., is the most populous city in the U.S. state of California and the second most populous in the United States, and is located in Southern California. The city is the focal point of the larger Los Angeles–Long Beach–Santa Ana metropolitan statistical area and Greater Los Angeles Area region. Los Angeles is also the seat of Los Angeles County, the most populated and one of the most ethnically diverse counties in the United States, while the entire Los Angeles area itself has been recognized as the most diverse of the nation's largest cities. The city's inhabitants are referred to as "Angelenos."

      Culture

Los Angeles is often billed as the "Creative Capital of the World", due to the fact that one in every six of its residents works in a creative industry. According to the USC Stevens Institute for Innovation, "there are more artists, writers, filmmakers, actors, dancers and musicians living and working in Los Angeles than any other city at any time in the history of civilization."

      LA malls and shopping centers:

West LA and Beverly Hills, including Beverly Center Shopping Mall, Rodeo Drive, Two Rodeo, Century City Shopping Center and Westside Pavilion.

Hollywood and nearby, including Hollywood & Highland, Universal CityWalk, Melrose Avenue and Robertson Boulevard Shopping District in West Hollywood.

Downtown and nearby, including California Market Center, LA Fashion District, Santee Alley, Cooper Design Space, Grand Central Market, LA Flower District, Little Tokyo District, Olvera Street, Citadel Factory Outlet.

Mid Wilshire and nearby, including The Grove, Original Farmers Market, West Third Street, Koreatown Galleria and Koreatown Plaza.

South Bay / Redondo Beach, including Del Amo Fashion Center, Manhattan Village Mall, South Bay Galleria, Plaza El Segundo, South Bay Pavilion.

      Los Angeles Nightlife:

ABH: The Thompson Beverly Hills is a destination on its own accord, but when you consider their rooftop pool at ABH you're left with no reason to not be there right now. The pool provides an intimate and secluded environment for sipping cocktails or taking a dip.

Poolside cabanas are few and far-between, but incredibly sought after. Luckily, admittance is reserved exclusively for hotel guests and members so the list to get one stays relatively short.

Apple:  Apple is two-fold, restaurant and entertainment venue. The food comes from the kitchen courtesy of up-and-coming young chef Bryan Ogden, but it is once the plates are cleared that the real fun starts. Over in the Apple Lounge, velvet ropes hold back the average, and only allow the best of the best past.

Avalon Hollywood: Avalon Hollywood in Los Angeles is a historic night club and music venue that attracts some of the hottest performers and musicians in the business. It houses room for nearly 2,000 people, features the exclusive Bardot lounge on the second floor, and plays host to A-list DJ?s. Avalon Hollywood is one of the top destinations for music and party enthusiasts. The historic Avalon is located right across the street from Los Angeles? Capitol Records Building and attracts hundreds of trendy music lovers. With three bars, opera box seating, and outdoor patio Avalon Hollywood is a popular venue for live concerts, dancing, award shows, film screenings, and private events.

Today, all the major studios are here and the city is the world's undisputed king of film-making. Disneyland is the city's major attraction, but LA is also home to world-renowned cultural institutions from the Museum of Contemporary Art to the LA Philharmonic and the stunning Getty Museum so just try this weekend a new experience in your life.
