Holidays in India: One Country Holidays in India: One Country, Different Themes
- From: manojihpl
-
Description:
Diversity is a very synonymous term associated with India owing to its religions, culture, multi-lingual populations and tourism. India tourism has a lot of diversity to offer that makes it a prominent driver of economic growth in the global travel and hospitality industry. The country abounds with several exotic destinations that draw travelers from far off lands for Holidays in India. Indian tourism has different themes to offer such as adventure, wildlife, religion, beach and hill stations among others. Nearly every tour operator has a presence on the internet today. This allows guests to choose from a variety of attractive India holiday packages offered by the local tour operators. In this article, I have mentioned four different themes for holidays in India.
Wildlife Tours
India is home to the second largest bio-diversity in the world and ranks 12 in the list of countries having most diverse flora and fauna species. The wildlife protected area of India are spread across different parts of the country in the form of 89 national parks, 400 wildlife sanctuaries and 13 Bio reserves. The country abounds with 6% flora , 6.2% reptile, 7.6% mammal and 12.6% avian species. Indian wildlife and national parks have been the subject for tales, fables and novels such as The Jungle Book by Rudyard Kipling. Though there are a large number of animal parks in India, the three names that rule the roost are Kaziranga National Park, Gir Wildlife Sanctuary and the Sunderbans. Their prominence is high because they play host to three most endangered animals- Single Horned Rhinoceros, Asiatic Lions and Royal Bengal Tiger.
Beach & Backwater Holidays
When it comes to backwater holidays in India, nothing can beat the charm of Kerala. The beach and backwater tour of Kerala is globally renowned owing to its verdant green surroundings, houseboat trips, salubrious climate, swaying palm trees and Ayurvedic massage centers. Alleppey and Kumarakom are the backbone of backwater tourism in Kerala. Among the beaches beaches, Kovalam has commanded all the attention. Besides Kerala, Goa is another well known beach destination of India best known for its cosmopolitan ambience, unparalleled languidness and full of beans nightlife.
Hill Station Tours
The northernmost part of Indian subcontinent is marked by the beautiful, breathtaking and towering peaks of The Great Himalayas. Although Kashmir tours has its own set of limitations owing to the political turmoil going on there, the state receives a good amount of tourist footfall owing to its picturesque lakes, gardens and traditional crafts. However, when it comes to fabulous hill stations in India, Himachal Pradesh tops the chart. Some popular hill stations within this state include Shimla, Kullu, Manali, Dharamshala and Dalhousie. The capital of Himachal Pradesh, Shimla is quite popular with honeymooners due to its picturesque surroundings, verdant valleys, lush green forests and colonial ambience. The southern region of India too has its fair share of hill stations teemed with picturesque spots, lush green plantations and cascading waterfalls. Ooty, Munnar, Kodaikanal and Coonoor are popular names of South Indian hill stations.
Adventure Tours
If you are one of those people who loves to live on the edge of thrill & excitement, India is one of the best bets available for you. Some famous adventure activities that India tourism offers to the tourists include skiing, scuba diving, river rafting, trekking, rock climbing, mountain biking and Paragliding. Ladakh offers ample opportunities to get indulge in a variety of adventure sports for a thrilling and shivering experience. Even Goa beaches offer good opportunity for water sport activities.
The above mentioned themes listed for tours to India are just a few names in the huge list of options. With so much variety available for India vacation, the country is one of the most sought after tourist destinations in the world.

Top 5 Must Visit Places for Ho Top 5 Must Visit Places for Holidays in India
- From: manojihpl
-
Description:
Holidays in India offer several choices in terms of destinations, themes and extraordinarily varying experiences to satisfy the most discerning traveler. The country abounds with breathtaking monuments, spectacular temples, magnificent forts and beach destinations to cater to the different breed of travelers flocking in India. In this article, I have listed five popular tourist destinations in India visited by thousands of tourists every year.
Taj Mahal
There are several quotes given to the Wonder of the World ‘Taj Mahal’, the Mughal era considered to be one of the biggest drawers of overseas tourists in India. Famous Noble prize winner Rabindranath Tagore referred it to as ‘ a teardrop on the cheek of time’. The romantic aura that permeates in the atmosphere around Taj Mahal on full moon nights is globally renowned. Emblazoned as a World Heritage Site by UNESCO, Taj Mahal is the star attraction of Agra and featured in almost all honeymoon tour packages of India.Khajuraho Temples
It would not be an overstatement to call Khajuraho temples ‘a sensuous poetry in stones’ as the outer walls of these temples abounds with erotic carvings. The Khajuraho Temples is a question mark on the medieval thoughts of the current society where sex is considered as a taboo. Built in the 10th century under the aegis of the Chandela dynasty, these temples are one of the popular tourist attractions in the state of Madhya Pradesh. This architectural marvel dating 1000 years back is a source for the study of architecture, joy & spiritual adulation for global tourists.Varanasi
The most sacred destination for the Hindu pilgrims, Varanasi is one of the oldest inhabited cities of the world. Varanasi is a must inclusion in your India tour itinerary if you are looking out for a spiritual experience. 100 in number, the ghats of Varanasi stretch for miles along the holy river Ganges. It is believed that a bath in the holy waters of the river Ganga will wash away your sins and release you from the cycle of re-birth. The city abounds with several temples such as Kashi Vishwanath temple, Sankat Mochan Hanuman temple, Kalbhairav temple and Bharat Mata temple. Besides temples, the prestigious Benares Hindu University, Ramnagar fort and Varanasi silk weaving center are some of the highlights of the tour.
Goa
There was a time when cocktail parties, dancing on the beach and meeting new people used to define an ultimate dream vacation. Today, the serenity & seclusion of pristine beaches, rejuvenating Ayurvedic massages and heritage excursions have a greater appeal with both local & international tourists. The behavioral change of tourists has been well adapted by the tourism department of Goa and has led to the transformation of this tiny Indian state into a family vacation destination from a hippy ideal. There are different types of hotels & resorts available in Goa catering to all kinds of travelers.Kerala
Also known as ‘God’s Own Country’, Kerala is immensely bestowed with treasures of nature. National Geographic Magazine has listed Kerala as one of the top 50 destinations of the world to visit before you die. The coastline of Kerala spans over 580 kilometers and is lined with several beautiful beaches. Kovalam is the most famous beach in Kerala and home to several award winning Ayurvedic resorts. However, the backwaters of Alleppey are considered the backbone of tourism in this state. A candle-lit dinner on board a Kerala houseboat under the immense canopy of the star studded sky is an experience par excellence.

Description:Surrounded by thousands of limestone mountains, Ha Long Sea creates a charming beauty for the bay and makes it unbelievably unique. Coming to Halong Bay, you will be entering a world of water wonders.Exciting water sportsImmense water surface in Ha Long is home to a number of water sports such as rafting, kayaking and swimming. Tourists who love adventures can try water motor driving or parachute-pulled canoeing offered on Bai Chay or Tuan Chau beach. While high speed of the water motors brings about thrilling moments, a parachute-pulled canoe tour gives tourists a bird-eye view to spectacular scene of the bay below. For those wishing to spend more time on sightseeing and discovering the bay by themselves, kayaking is surely the perfect choice. The most impressive moment is when the kayak began moving into the cave. The further one goes inside, the darker and cooler it is. The cave is filled with falling stalactites, and sometimes, one has to crouch down in the boat to avoid hitting his head on them.Scuba Diving in Halong Bay- New and ExcitingSpacious underwater world in Ha Long with diversified marine creatures is a paradise for snorkeling and scuba diving. The period from April to December, when the temperature of water ranges from 26-29 degree Celsius, is the best time for these kinds of sport. Just put on scuba glasses, diving fins, scuba cylinder, and then jump into the water, a wonderful ocean worldwouldinstantly be opening in front of tourists’ eyes. Thousands of splendid corals such as sun mushroom, leather or stag-horn and colorful fishessuch as sergeant major or Clark’s anemone would definitely amaze anyone. In addition, internationally- licensed and friendly scuba divers and assistants promise safe dive andunforgettable experience to tourists.Soft sandy beaches fringed with coconut palms are not only ideal places for sunbathing or relaxation but also for energetic sport activities like beach volleyball or football. Besides matches played for fun and good health, occasional international competition such as Asian Women’s Beach Volleyball Championships draws attention of many locals and travelers.Overnight on luxurious junksLuxurious junk is movable accommodation, a perfect combination of upscale hotel and convenient transportation. Guests can enjoy marvelous beauty of the world heritage site any time they want while lying on the bed, enjoying coffee on the boat terrace, having lunch in dining room or sunbathing on the top deck.Besides taking tourists to the highlights of Ha Long Bay, the tour offers them interesting sports and entertainment activities such as scuba diving, kayaking or Vietnamese cooking class.Particularly, tourists who love to wake up early to appreciate the bay’s beauty in the dawn can also join morning Taichi class on the deck.Floating fishing villagesFamous for unique scenery with thousands of limestone islands floating on the water, Ha Long attracts tourist by its cultural value as well. In recent years, visiting floating fishing villages in Ha Long such as Vong Vieng or Cua Van have been more popular. The locals here live on floating houses and mainly earn a living by fishing and marine aquaculture. They go fishing in the morning, selling their catches to bigger boats, which later sell the catches to the mainland. On the way of sigh-seeing around Ha Long Bay, travelers can see some floating markets of the local peopleselling goods for daily use such as vegetable, fruits, rice and fishes.Tourists can get an insight into the locals’ life byvisiting fish cultivation area. It would be much more interesting if one can have ahome-stay and try daily work of fisherman like rowing boat, casting and hauling the fish net, sitting on coracle and listening to folk songs at night. Besides, there are plenty of souvenirs made from shells and pearls by the locals available for choices. Despite language barrier, friendly and cheerful locals would surely make guests feel comfortable like staying at home.Supported by Indochina Sails – The most luxury and safest cruises in Halong BayINDOCHINA SAILSHanoi OfficeAdd: 27 – A6 – Dam Trau Quarter – Hai Ba Trung District – Hanoi – VietnamTel: +84 – 4- 39842362Fax: +84 – 4 – 39844150Email: info@indochinasails.comWebsite: www.indochinasails.com (http://www.indochinasails.com/en/)
