Li River in Misty Rain Li River in Misty Rain
- From: Lux
-
Description:
It is my second Li River trip. Last season I hiked along this River, and this season, since it was a light stormy, I select to do a Li Stream vacation. The Li Stream was so wonderful in the misty rainfall, just like a China artwork collection.
Reminding Guilin my preferred identify here must be Li Stream. My first a chance to Li Stream, it was a warm day, the elegance full Li Stream created me so satisfied that I did not feel any tried during the climbing. This a chance to Li Stream, the elements is not so excellent, and it was a little stormy. I had thought that it was not a excellent day to do the Li Stream vacation, but I was incorrect. In the misty rainfall, the scenery of Li Stream had another different elegance, which was amazed me.
It did not stop pouring. Our vessel approved through the natural water and mountains, which liked that I stepped into a China artwork collection. Status on the outdoor patio, it was so wet outside, river twisting through mountains. The far away mountain, close water and local-style homes were so relaxing. Along the vacation, the rainfall and water, the expression of mountains in the water, mists and ripples, etc… all the moments, I sensed that maybe I am in my desire.
Slowly, our vessel approved though the collection. All the way in the collection, the amazing artwork created me do not want to get off the vessel. I observed that Li Stream is always elegance all season long. In sunlight, rainfall, snowfall, water, all the elements conditions, Li Stream has it different ladies that draws visitors from all over the world.

Qingdao Qingdao
- From: x123456
-
Description:
The old town of Qingdao is very special, with a lot of European-style architectures there. Almost across each mountain, there are some parks and also some residences of celebrities. If you stay in a hotel in Qingdao, it’s better to choose the one near to the sea because in autumn, there are a lot of beautiful landscapes that you are able to see anytime when walking out of your hotel.
The trestle of Qingdao, located in the south of Zhongshan Road where there are a number of tourists, is built over a gulf for visitors to board the sightseeing ship to cruise on the river. The trestle is as old as some of the buildings in Qingdao. In Qing Dynasty, an imperial envoy Li Hung-Chang came to Qingdao to inspect. During that time, he wanted to take a big ship there, but since Qingdao was a very small village where there was no port, the ship could not be parked. A harbor which was later built for temporarily use and rebuilt for several times is not a port any more now but an art gallery where some of art works are exhibited.
What’s more, the trestle is the symbol of Qingdao which is a must-visit scenic spot. At the end of the trestle is a pavilion which looks really special against the European-style buildings around it, with double eaves of Chinese traditional styles on the roof. The trestle which is situated over the gulf is 440 meters long and 8 meters wide with concrete structures. At the south part of it is a half round jetty. There is an attic with eight corner angles where tourists are able to see layers of waves surging. The attic has bee approved as one of the best scenic spots in Qingdao. On the other hand, the night views around the trestle are much more beautiful in daytime than in nighttime.
The Christian church in Qingdao is a well-known religious building located at Road 15, near to Xinhao Shan Park in the east where there are magnificent landscapes.
The wide and flat square in front of the church looks very magnificent against a forest and all kinds of western-style architectures around it. Stepping onto narrow steps, you will see its strong walls, half round window frames, pitched roofs and bell tower. The Christian church is a typical German-style building composed of a bell tower and an auditorium. The bell tower on which you are able to have a bird view of sea views is 39.10 meters high, with a huge clock on there that makes the solemn church mysterious. On the other hand, the auditorium which is composed of two floors, with delicate decoration of the interior looks very special and accommodates thousands of people at a time.

Routeburn Track, New Zealand Routeburn Track, New Zealand
- From: annachron
-
Description:
National Geographic rated the Routeburn Track in New Zealand as one of the 10 best hikes in the world. It was amazing. I'm so glad we chose this hike instead of the Milford Sound hike. Milford would have been beautiful, but there are so many rules and so many people. Routeburn was breathtaking, and we finished it up by getting picked up by a bus and driven to the Milford Sound for a cruise, so we saw the Sound itself, anyway.

The Fishermen of Halong Bay, V The Fishermen of Halong Bay, Vietnam
- From: indochinasails
-
Description:“We live in a wonderful world that is full of beauty, charm and adventure. There is no end to the adventures we can have if only we seek them with our eyes open.” – Jawaharial NehruMesmerizing panoramas of limestone karsts often covered with lush green vegetation. Adding to this backdrop was the ever present fishermen who live on these waters. We were never completely alone. The put-put of their engines was the first indicator.A single boat with Quonset hut and colorful flags passed by our junk oblivious to us watching.Oftentimes boats were rafted together. This was home for them and a way of life dating back generations. We notice a lone man in his boat tied to this grey ragged landscape collecting crustaceans. It is food for the table and to sell.A cultural and colorful highlight was visiting a floating village tucked along the jagged edge of karsts in a somewhat protected area from the winds. Consisting of 120 people, mostly families with children, they have been there since 1994 and encouraged by the government to fish these waters. They do so with nets as well as fish-farms. There are three other such floating villages scattered throughout Halong Bay and some quite large. Collectively, these fishermen supply seafood to all of Vietnam, particularly Hanoi. In addition, they are developing markets for farm-raised sea grasses, sea weed, and shrimp.Houses were painted in cheerful colors and each appeared to have a resident watch dog. Roosters crowed.Generators provide electricity for the floating village and fresh water is brought in from the mainland and stored in tanks. We were taken to the community building to meet the village elder, his family and to have tea. The structure also serves as a school while efforts are being made to replace the one that was destroyed in a typhoon. The government provides a teacher, but he or she needs to be married, which reflects the cultural morays. Older children who wish to further their education often live on the mainland with a relative.Managing tourism is of importance. This village has a partnership with several junk touring companies. Only the smaller vessels can approach this particular floating village, which was a cultural bonus for us. Instead of selling us trinkets or local crafts, we were taken on small boat excursions. There were four couples in our group and each couple was assigned to a row boat made from a woven reed basket. Our rower was a girl named Win who was shy and had such a lovely smile. By tipping these rowers we are told this is a “workable” situation for tourists and the village. I had to agree. These women worked hard at what they were doing. An extra cultural treat for Ron and I was Duc, our guide, joined our little boat as well as the village chief’s son and niece. It was fun listening to the children chatter away and Duc translate.Laughing at each other in our conical hats was a reminder that we were acting the tourist part. There was one particular area that Duc wanted us to see, but the lead rower could not get her boat through because of the current. We weren't disappointed. The beauty around us was worth this experience of being rowed in a basket.Once back on the junk, the long term sustainability of these floating villages was discussed. There is a balance between the fishermen, tourism, and the fragile eco-system which can change because of industrial run off, storms affecting fishing and increasing pollution. Halong Bay is a beautiful natural wonder. Protection of these waters while preserving a cultural way of life is an ongoing challenge.Source: onthegowithlynneFor more information about Halong Bay cruise, please refer: http://www.indochinasails.com/
