Hundreds of years old and so peaceful. The cemetary is the most beautiful part of the Mission.
Captured this photo of the iconic Golden Gate Bridge on a surprisingly fog-free evening in June. For budget travelers visiting San Francisco, would recommend to consider getting a hotel in Oakland and taking the BART subway across the bay to the city. Oakland has many new hotels in refurbished parts of town that make this a safe, economical option. Also, almost all Oakland hotels don't charge for parking which is another huge plus for those who will have a car.
The Golden Gate Bridge, San Francisco CA.
I was visiting the Legion of Honor Museum and we wandered down the hill to the bluff overlooking where the Pacific and the SF Bay meet- under the Golden Gate. Boats were out, the sun was shining, no fog, white clouds in the sky-- who wouldn't have taken photos that day!
As often happens, we were trying to get a different shot when this one presented itself. For weeks, we've been trying to get a great shot of the Golden Gate Bridge, but the weather just really wouldn't cooperate. On this day, we had been to a friends afternoon party on Potrero Hill and as we were driving home to the East Bay we had planned to head over to the GG Bridge and see if we could get a shot. But we had stayed too late to make it over to the GG by sunset. Still, the evening was spectacular -- mild and with an indigo sky that is rare for San Francisco. So we stopped off at the Embarcadero and spent a wonderful hour or two shooting the SF skyline and the Bay Bridge, which connects San Francisco and the East Bay. (May 2010)
The San Francisco Bay Bridge's western span at sunset. I took this picture from Treasure Island which offers some amazing views of the city and the bridge. If you're passing through the Bay Area and are looking for a good vantage point this is your spot. They are building a new eastern span to this bridge scheduled for completion in 2012, the most expensive construction project in the state which also makes for some entertaining viewing from the island.

Fishermen's Wharf in San Francisco is a fun place to explore and we discovered a wonderful bakery/restaurant with all kinds of interesting breads including alligator and turtle shapes. The bread is conveyed from the bakery to the sales shop via a conveyer system overhead in wire buckets for all to see and you can watch the bread being prepared through windows inside and from the street. A very interesting operation.
