Our most poignant moment on safari in Masai Mara National Reserve, Kenya, was seeing this zebra watch a hyena eat a dead zebra, probably killed by a lion. A moment later, the zebra sadly turned and moved on.

Nothing defines the landscape of the Masai Mara National Reserve in Kenya more than the acacia tree. They are solitary trees, sometimes standing alone amid hundreds of acres of grassland. You can spot their distinctive shape miles away. Up close, they hold two-inch long sharp needles. This tree was photographed at sunrise.
