  • Robert Frost's Pond Robert Frost's Pond

    • From: woobiecat1
    • Description:

Today I was surprised to find myself at one of Robert Frost's former homes in Ripton, Vermont, at a women's club meeting.  I had no idea that's where I was going, but I did have my camera because . . . you never know.  I often don't know where I'm headed because we haven't lived in this area very long.   It was a lovely farm house that has been renovated since Robert Frost  lived there, but it still contains the old rooms he occupied with his family.  It felt good to be in the house and walk by this pond.   Once a month in East Middlebury I have lunch with ladies who knew him all of their lives.  This Robert Frost group was once much larger, but many ladies have passed on.

I just learned something new.  At a recent lightning fire in our neighborhood, I noticed these firemen hovering over this stand with their clipboard, checking and re-checking the many badges hanging in front of them.  Serious work.  I waited for the action to slow down and approached them and asked what they were doing.  They explained that the badges represented each man working in the fire and they were keeping track of each and every one of them via the clipboard and on the rack.  Just one of the important jobs our volunteer firemen do in the performance of their important work here in Middlebury, Vermont.  What would we do without them.

    • From: woobiecat1
    • Description:

You don't have to travel the world to find compelling subject matter to photograph.  Last night lightning struck our neighborhood off its foundations - it was a foot wide and from my estimation, had it struck in the middle of the house it hit instead of the corner, lives would have been lost.  The family was lucky.  Middlebury Volunteer Fire Department was here in minutes and made sure the house was safe.  These are our home-town heroes.
