One-day trip in Beidai River. One-day trip in Beidai River.
- From: x123456
-
Description:
Since I was a child, I have been looking forwards to seeing the sea one day. In summer, as it’s getting hot, it’s the right time to do that. At night in Friday, I bought a train ticket to Beidai River.
At 7 pm, the train started off from the Beijing train station and arrived at the Beidai River’s in two hours.
At 4:30 in the early morning after I brushed my teeth and washed my face, I walked out of my hotel and arrived at the Pigeon Park at 5 am. However, I didn’t plan to go in there. A middle-aged woman was walking to me and asked if I wanted to see sunrise and that if I did, she would charge 10 Yuan for taking me to see sunrise, but I said no. I kept walking further to the end of Gechi Road and I finally saw the sea. On the sea level arises the sun which looks like a red yolk and its sunlight was not very strong. Seeing the beach surrounded by a wall that shut out my sight, I walked further along the wall for about more than 200 meters and saw the broad beach where there were a lot of tourists. Some people there were suggesting going fishing, but I couldn’t swim although I grew up in a family where my father and mother can swim. Therefore I gave it up to go fishing with them. I was impatient to wait and just running towards the beach, where I was seeing waves of the sea impacting the sea bank, treading on the wet sand. Since it’s the first time I saw the sea, I took many of pictures of the sea. As the sun gradually rises, the seaweeds were on the bank and rocks came out of sea water after tide slowly faded. After the tide fell, some people who live nearby came and were picking up some seafood for dinner like shrimps, crabs and so on. Walking along the sea coast to the south, I saw that a few of locals were fishing, sitting on the rocks and a couple of tourists were taking a walk. Then I walked to a rock, and faced to the sea without thinking of anything, while the sun was shinning on me. I heard from time to time sea waves were impacting on rocks and felt sea water was splashing on me occasionally. It’s really a kind of enjoyment and relaxation for those who work in the office.
last, I went to a costal beach park to see sunset. In the park, there is no transportation. Walking on the road, you may have no idea what will happen in the next second. Sometimes you can see people in swimming suits walking in the park and at this time, you could feel kind of regretful if you don’t wear the suits. Last time, it just happened to me. I just took off my shoes and socks and rolled up my trousers to run to the sea. As the sun slowly goes down behind me, sea waves impacted on my legs and I felt so cool. Back to the hotel, I went to a seafood restaurant to have a dinner, where I ordered a cool noodle, dumplings with seafood fillings and a stretched noodle from Lanzhou.
Thus the trip ended.

Tips For Traveling To Paris Wi Tips For Traveling To Paris With Girlfriends
- From: Funkidivagirl
-
Description:
Last month I did something that I have only done once before: I took a vacation without my husband and children. *GASP!* I know, right?! Who am I to be so bold and brazen, to travel across land and sea for several hours without them? I tell you who – a very happy woman.
Don’t get me wrong – I love traveling with my kids, showing them the world and having adventures together. But as any mother knows, a vacation with your family is not really a vacation in the truest sense. And while I love traveling with my husband, he doesn’t like to shop for shoes and he probably thinks that I talk too much. A girlfriend trip was what I needed and what better place than Paris!
I had been to Paris recently, once with my family and once with my husband, but I knew this trip with my friends would be different. As we planned the trip via email, texts and a few face-to-face meetings, we were all excited, but also nervous. Let’s be real: five women traveling together leaves a lot of room for drama and attitudes. We were a varied bunch: married stay at home moms, professionals, singles and single moms. Shenia, Christin, Natasha, Latoicha and me. There would be five different personalities and five different expectations about how the trip should flow. Since I had the most experience in Paris, I became the default planner. I worried: Would the women like the apartment that I had chosen? Would they love Paris as much as I do? Would we all get along?
My worries were for naught. Everyone loved everything about Paris and we all had the time of our lives. The whole trip, as Shenia would say, was divine.
Our divine blessing began with an uneventful flight and a cutie-pie driver (don’t worry husbands, he was only cute to the unmarried ladies) who was familiar with Atlanta. He liked us and pitied us when we said that we had to haul all this luggage up 4 flights of stairs. Instead of dropping us off at the curb, he was going to help us. See, we knew that the elevator was being repaired when we rented the apartment, in fact we got a small price break for the inconvenience. But yet, we packed like this – what in the world were we thinking?

A trip to WeiZhou Island A trip to WeiZhou Island
- From: j123456
-
Description:Although it looked like a cloudy day today in BeiHai city, the weather got better after we had arrived at Weizhou Island by water. One hour later, we reached the destination. We spent three days and three nights there. At about 5 clock in the afternoon on the twenty second of November, we landed on the island and at 5 pm on the 25th, we left. In the three days on the island, we sleep till waking up each day, sometimes stroll around nice scenic spots, are in a daze for a little bit, walk for a while, have a bike ride, pick up shell, and walk the dog. What is important is that we had fresh seafood to eat. What a leisurely and comfortable vacation.
About the accommodation on the island, it seems that we didn’t have many choices but Youth Hostel called ZhuZai Ba is our only choice and since we all know about hostels, we then made the decision to stay. Spending a night at a fisherman’s family was never considered, because we know nothing about its environment and something like that. We contacted with the boss there on the Internet to reserve a room, but since we were not sure on which date we would land on the island, we just made an oral contract with him. Anyway, “since it’s in a dull season, there are rooms anytime” the boss said. Having bought sea passage tickets, we started out.
The ship having arrived at the dock, we met up with the rider of the tricycle and got on. After a while, we began officially landing on the island.
After that, it’s when the sun goes down. Putting down our luggage in the hostel, we rushed out. Across a road, it’s a beach and we saw the sunset on the WeiZhou Island.
Afterwards, dinner had been reserved in advance, before we had dinner together. The younger sister of the boss AHong is charge of cooking meal for us. She went to the market , bought some seafood like fish and crab and cooked for us. Her cooking skill was so good, with the GuangDong style, that we liked it very much and ate all. Since she has a good cooking skill, we decided to stay here for the rest of the days.
in the morning of the following day, we had steamed bun with soya-bean milk and went to the market to buy some seafood. After that, we give it to AHong to cook it for us. For each meal, it’s different . crab is stemmed or sometimes fried with yolk or green onion. For fish, it’s stemmed sometimes and some other time braised in soy sauce. Shell is stemmed or sometimes fried. If we go out to have a fun and are late for buying food, we can give her a call to ask her to do it for us. At night, we reserved a seafood barbecue as our night snack and it’s so delicious.
Moreover, There are about ten thousand residents living on the WeiZhou Island with one fifth of believers, where there are two churches, the catholic church and the chapel of Our Lady. Church is the symbol of missionaries.
The chapel of Our Lady of France is a small typical church with the gothic style of Europe, with three floors of a square bell tower in front engraved with the three words Chapel of Our Lady, and an oblong house of god and two floors of a small building behind the tower. And perhaps because of the small-sized church located at a remote place, few people go there.
The symbolic church on the island is the catholic church, which is already a scenic spot where there were so many people inside without tranquility and holy, and a few of buses parking by there. Finally we met up with our team group, and took some photos and left before the next group of people came.
The church with a hundred years history, a gothic architecture in the renaissance of France was built with the corallites on the island, composed of the church, Men and women monastery, hospital, priest building, and mother and baby room.
The Volcano Park is an important scenic spot on the island where there is a lighthouse guiding the way of the fishing-boat. Standing under the lighthouse, we can see the whole view of the South Bay.
The Crocodile Mountain Park is where marine abrasion and volcanic lava often happen. Walking along the sea, we can see the pelelith. On that morning, the weather was bad, very cloudy. I ran into a group of children who was sketching a beautiful view.
Located in the east, The Sesame Beach is also called the Colorful Beach, where it’s optimum to watch the sunrise. It got famous because of its white and black sand. And we can also catch some crabs in the evening.
It’s really an unforgettable experience.

The village is a true waterworld, rising and falling with the tides, sheltered a midst limestone towers. These families have lived in this village for generations. Their floating houses look spacious and clean. The well-off families even have tiled roof houses with radios, television sets, tables and chairs, etc. There is one community house here where villagers come to have meetings. Description:Am IsletOn the route to Quan Lan – Ngoc Vung islands; Am Rock or Kettle Islet is situated in Bai TuLong Bay. An island jutting out of the seawaters, the teapot of the Jade Emperor, who accidentally dropped it into Ha Longso, and its handle was broken.Ba Trai Dao IsletThis island consists of three small mountains with the height of 23 m, seen from afar; resemble three peaches (Ba Trai Dao). The island connects to a legend of about the romantic love between a youngest fairy who was very pretty with a young and poor fisherman. Because of feeling in love with him, she stole three peaches from Heaven for him, which if he ate, would give him eternal life, allowing them to live together forever. The King of the Heavens discovered the robbery and turned the peaches into three stone islands. Chastised, the young fairy had to return.Today, Ba Trai Dao is a famous tourist attraction with three nice fairy beaches, romantic landscape. It is 22 km from south north of Bãi Cháy Tourist Wharf. But IsletSome 30-minute boating away from the Con Coc Islet, on the way to the Three Peaches Islet, visitors see a pen bobbing (But Islet) in the seawaters. This constitutes a monument of knowledge Mother Dragon wanted to pass down to the present-day generations. Lying adjacent to the Pen Islet is a small attractive beach. Tourists can anchor there to take a bathCho Da IsletIn the itinerary of Thien Cung – Dau Go – Ti Top, after visiting Thien Cung and Dau Go, one needs 10 minutes boating to the Cho Da Islet or Stone Dog Islet. Some 8 m up the islet one can figure out a piece of stone in the shape of a dog sitting with its back to the sea, standing guard for the safety of seagoing boats for millions of years.Con Coc IsletCon Coc or Toad Islet is one of the most exquisite works nature has presented Ha Long. Just imagine, an 8-meter-tall toad sitting to wait for rain amidst the vastness of the sea. The Toad Islet lies in the southeast of Ha Long Bay, 17 km away from the tourist boat wharf.Dau Moi IsletDau Moi Islet lies in the middle of the route between Am Islet and Dua Islet in Bai Tu Long Bay. The islet resembles the head of a termite, a kind of insect often seen prior to the rainy season. Dau Moi Islet is listed in the diversified “animal collection” of Ha Long Bay.Dau Nguoi (Head) IsletFrom a far, you can see a 25-meter islet, which reminds us of a huge Egyptian head with a big nose. Its chin lies close to the sea surface. Many people associate it with the image of the Egyptian Sphinx. The Dau Nguoi Islet in Ha Long Bay, a masterpiece of nature, has its own poetic beauty as it lies amidst seawaters. The islet lies near Luon Cave, 13 km away from the tourist wharf.Dinh Huong IsletIn the itinerary of Thien Cung – Dau Go – Ti Top, one finds Dinh Huong Islet or Lu Huong (Incense Burner Islet) to the southwest of Dau Go Island. Passing the Stone Dog Islet and the Con Meo Cat Islet, one sees an imposing stone slab resting on two other small stones stands blocked the way. The stone slab resembles a huge incense burner, which lies in the middle of the sea as a holy object to worship the Sky and Earth.Dua IsletIn Bai Tu Long Bay, some 7 km east of Bai Tho (Poem) Mountain stands a stone islet, which resembles a huge magic wand in Andersen’s fairy tales. It clarifies the geological and geomorphologic significance of Ha Long Bay. Dua Islet serves as an interesting tourist site and a “lighthouse” for seagoing boats.Mat Quy IsletBoating past the Am Islet some 20 minutes, we see Mat Quy Islet or Monster Head Islet, which protrudes about 30-35 m from the waters of Bai Tu Long Bay. Nature has carved the rock in the shape of a monster head, with a rough big nose standing out from a distorted face. From whatever angle, one still find it horrible.Ngon Tay IsletOn the way to Ti Top Island, visitors see a stone rock resembling a thump jutting out of the sea. Nature has put the Ngon Tay (Finger) Islet here as a reminder of many interesting extras in the discovery of Ha Long.Oan IsletSituated 300 m away from Bai Tho Mountain and 5 km from the Bai Chay Tourist Wharf, a 22-meter islet stands out in Bai Tu Long Bay. It has the shape of truncated sticky rice, which serves as an offering to Buddha. French tourists pay special attention to this rock as in 1992; a French famous actress came there to film some shots of the film Indochina. In the island, some settings are still preserved including the stone-paved road to the beach (often called the Slave Pier), the prisons, etc.Soi Sim IsletSoi Sim is an soil island 400 m away from Ti Top Island, and 7-8 km from the Bai Chay Tourist Wharf. In the island there are many ancient trees. The Ha Long Bay Management Board is going to build a system of guesthouses equipped with modern facilities. At present, a small beach has been improved and upgraded, adding more charm to the attractive holiday resort.Su Tu Bien IsletOn the canoe route to Thien Cung - Dau Go Grottoes, one should visit Sea Lion Islet, which is 10 minutes away from the Bai Chay Tourist Wharf. Amidst the vast seawaters of Ha Long, you recognize a high rock jutting from the sea, resembling a lion stretching.Thien Nga IsletIn the waters of Bai Tu Long Bay, a stone islet is bobbing like an alluring and graceful swan (Thien Nga) - a swan losing its herd. This stone swan has taken up countless time and rolls of film of tourist near and far.Trong Mai IsletTrong Mai or the Kissing Cocks is situated on the south-west side of Ha Long Bay, 5 km from the tourist wharf near to Dinh Huong Islet. In a somewhat large expanse of open sea, the island seems to grow up from the bottom of the deep emerald waters. At sunset, the island with the height of over 10 m is bright red and in a somewhat tottery position. Their tiny legs support heavy bodies, and it appears that one strong wave could throw the two stone blocks into the sea. However, hundreds of millions of years have passed, and the Trong Mai is still there. The image of the island is the logo of Ha Long Bay and Vietnam Tourism.Xep IsletXep Islet or Layer Islet is a huge, multi-layered, square piece of stone which looks like an Egyptian pyramid built in the middle of the Bai Tu Long Bay, Cam Pha District.Yen Ngua IsletThe Yen Ngua or Saddle Islet lies in Ha Long Bay, in the centre of the World Heritage Area. Nature has creatively shaped two pieces of stone, one high and one lower, which are linked together to form an imposing rock, looking like a saddle. Boats can go through underneath. The whole rock resembles a sewing machine. How wonderful to have such a magnificent but elegant “saddle”, jutting some 10 m above the sea surface.

- From: indochinasails

Description:Halong Bay, only 105 miles from Hanoi, is a UNESCO World Heritage site and considered to be one of the most beautiful places in the world. Guests will be surrounded by hundreds of lush islands, each with names that reflect their unique shapes, like Voi Island (Elephant), Ga Choi Island (Fighting Cock), and Qua Chuong Island (Bell). The over 900 islands are said to have been created when God sent a group of dragons to help the Vietnamese fight invaders. When the dragons spit out jewels and jade, the islands were formed and blocked the invaders' path. Once the dragons decided to stay in peace, many of the islands were given names to honor them. Bai Tu Long Island is where the young dragons looked after their mothers and Back Long Vi Island is where young dragons played in the sea and wriggled their tails.Indochina Sails, an extension of luxury cruise company Huong Hai Junks, boasts over ten years of experience, bringing guests from all over the world to the beauty of Halong Bay, Vietnam. Featuring tropical weather, guests aboard a cruise through the bay should expect warm, humid weather in the summer and cold, dry weather in the winters. Regardless of the season though, guests will be able to witness limestone karsts (which have undergone millions of years of various environments), isles in assorted sizes, and many caves with ancient legends surrounding them. Set in Quang Ninh province, the Halong Bay has a rich history and we think it would make for a beautiful luxury vacation. As one of the first companies to offer overnight cruises, Indochina Sails has six vessels in their fleet, each designed to reflect a traditional Asian style, while still supplying guests all the modern amenities needed. All of their boats have spacious cabins with large en-suite marble bathrooms (complete with massage showers), sundecks, freshly cut flowers, dining rooms and bars. Rich wood and large windows accent the rooms, with luxurious linens covering the bed to ensure a good night's sleep. The rooms vary depending on which of the six ships you choose for your cruise, whether it be one of the four Indochina Sails or one of the two Valentine vessels. Two Premiums ships are available, the Indochina Sails Premium and the Valentine Premium, each offering guests more space and more exclusivity. The Valentine is a full-service vessel and offers everything the other larger boats do, except this one only has two deluxe cabins on board. The Indochina Sails Premium is the newest to the fleet and features 24 cabins, a massage cabin, and a gym. With bigger windows than any of the others, guests will be able to relax in the lounge without having to sacrifice views of the bay.Guests are sure to be charmed by the many legends as they cruise through crisp waters and admire Mother Nature at her best. Indochina Sails offers a cruise for two days and one night, and a cruise for three days and two nights, each with an exciting itinerary. For the two days one night itinerary, on the first day guests will be taken to Luon Cave and explore it by either bamboo boats or kayaks. Grandparents House In The Berk Grandparents House In The Berkshires
- From: LisaG
-
Description:
In May our family hosted a memorial garden party at the Pittsfield house in honor of our mother who died after battling 6 months of lung cancer. She had returned to Berkshire County to care for her mother in the 70's and had lived in the house where she grew up until her death. My cousins made the long trip from Florida and Virginia.
We walked thru the white stucco with green trim house to identify what we wanted to keep. It was difficult because of the individual memories of each painting or piece of glassware and furniture. As children we traveled almost every Christmas to meet. The house was built in the early 1920's on a double lot with hugh trees. It has a sun porch, a garage, a garden shed, three deep closets, a workbench tool room, a potato celler, a canning closet and a storage room filled with filing cabinets. The perfect house for hide and go seek, building forts, and supervising grandpa in his work room. The music room hosted the decorated Christmas tree. Grandpa Lewis made sand boxes, bird houses, color chemicals for the fireplace , and doll house furniture. He retired from Berkshire Life and loved doting on his grandchildren.
My grandmother was very quiet and stayed in the background but she could bake the best Midnight chocolate cake and Toll House Sqares. We watched from a metal stool in the tiny kitchen, hoping she would leave a little more batter in the bowl for us to clean up . She served cookies and grape lemonade at the green garden table with the matching metal shell chairs. She would bring out the croquet set for our highly competative games. Parting with this large piece of our childhood will be hard.
