Fort El Morro Fort El Morro
- From: jorgeq
-
Description:
First time visitors to Old San Juan cannot leave without visiting El Morro. It's one of Puerto Rico's most enduring symbols but in all honestly, once you've explored and wandered throughout it's interior once, I recommend to bypass the opportunity to do it again on your next visit and instead tour the outside grassy mounds at sundown.
The castle is beautifully crafted and backed up with some amazing history and while the landmark hasn't changed a bit since my last visit, I at least wanted to walkaway with an unconventional perspective of this prominent setting.

Exploring Budapest: Day 1 Exploring Budapest: Day 1
- From: lavenderdays
-
Description:
Flying all the way from Los Angeles, my mom and I arrived in Budapest at 9 in the morning - fun. After making our way to the hotel, we ended up passing out for a good 3 hours on the extremely comfortable beds in our room.
Miraculously, we were able to wake up and force ourselves to go outside and explore, despite the major jet lag. About 10 seconds after stepping outside, the blue sky quickly vanished and it started pouring so we ran into a cafe close to the hotel and hid out there for a good hour.
I was eager to try some Hungarian food so I ordered goulash soup which was really delicious. I’m no food expert so I’m not quite sure if there are several different kinds of goulash but mine had beef, potatoes, carrots, and onions in it. I’d definitely recomend trying it if you’re ever in Hungary! Unfortunately, I only ate goulash once while I was there because the rest of the week was extremely hot and who the hell wants to eat soup when it’s 90 degrees out?
The rain stopped after an hour and sunshine returned so we decided to walk around the city a bit to get an idea of where everything is. We walked long the Danube River, passed the gorgeous Parliament building, and ended up around St. Stephen’s Basilica which is surrounded by beautiful shops and cafes.
Jet lag got the best of us again and we ended up returning to the hotel and falling asleep by 8:30. Yeah. Party animals. - Blog post

Havasu Creek Havasu Creek
- From: Meriam
-
Description:
Havasu Creek is a tributary to the Colorado River in the Grand Canyon. The distinct blue-green color of the water is due to the underlying limestone. This picture was taken very early in the morning on a hike from the river. It is absolutely my most favorite place in the canyon.

hummingbird at Arenal Volcano hummingbird at Arenal Volcano Inn
- From: jeffh
-
Description:
While staying at the Arenal Volcano Inn, I couldn't help but notice how nice the hotel was landscaped to attract birds. It was done so well that a tour group came over for birdwatching on this morning. This is a picture of (I believe) a Rufous-tailed hummingbird. According to the book 'Birds of Costa Rica', it is described as 'very aggressive and often engages in chases'. Earlier in my walk around the hotel, one of these hummingbirds flew very close to my head, making my ears ring, and disorienting me for a second or two.

Saga Dawa Festival Tour, the T Saga Dawa Festival Tour, the Top Tibet Pilgrimage Tour 2013
- From: tibettravel
-
Description:
If you are feeling lost in your life, make a spiritual tour to Tibet and find yourself, find your dream, find your life. A Saga Dawa Festival Tour, the top Tibet Pilgrimage Tour in 2013, is highly recommended.
In my high school, a friend told me that Lhasa was a must-visit place in his life and that it should be his last trip in his life. However, he travelled to Tibet after he was graduated from university for he felt lost in the competition of society. He said it was an amazing tour changing his life. When he saw how the devout Tibetan pilgrims kept faith to their belief no matter how hard it was, he realized that he must keep faith to his dream.
It is best to travel to Tibet during Saga Dawa Festival which is the best time to observe Tibetan pilgrims. The Saga Dawa Festival is the most significant event of the year for Tibetan Buddhists as three of the most essential events in Buddha’s life (birth, enlightenment and passing into Parinirvana) took place on the full moon day of the 4th lunar month in Tibetan calendar.
This month is regarded as the holiest time of the year. It is also known as ‘bum gyur dawa’ in Tibetan, meaning (the month which multiplies by 100000 whatever wholesome or unwholesome action is performed during this month has a 100000 times stronger effect than at other times). Therefore, thousands of Tibetans make a Lhasa tour to do ritual walks and ceremonies during the Saga Dawa Festival.
During the whole month Buddhists have celebrations and pay homage for Buddha Shakyamuni. Most auspicious ceremonies are also held in Holy Mountain Kailash region in Tibet as it’s believed that on Saga Dawa day Buddha Shakyamuni is coming from the heaven to the top of Kailash and people get blessed. People put auspicious huge prayer flag known as Darpo Che performing religious ceremonies.
The Saga Dawa Festival in 2013 will fall on May 25th. Since there is lots of preparation work for a Tibet tour, it is time for you to get started now, applying for Chinese Visa and then Tibet Permits, booking air/train tickets, hotels, etc.
As too many travelers and pilgrims travel to Lhasa during the Saga Dawa Festival, the hotels and air/train tickets are in great demand. In addition, taking Tibet train to Lhasa is a popular way to Tibet. It usually takes two days to Lhasa from mainland China, so soft sleeper berth is at greatest demand. Early booking is highly recommended.
As for the permits, if you just want to make a Lhasa tour, a Tibet entry permit is enough, but if you want to make a Kailash tour, Alien’s travel permit and military permit are also needed except the Tibet entry permit. Actually, it is not necessary to worry about the Tibet permits as the policy on Tibet travel permit 2013 makes it is quite easy for foreigners to get Tibet permits.
