  • Weekend Retreat to The Hotel W Weekend Retreat to The Hotel Wilshire!

    • From: ajjordan2
    • Description:

The Hotel WilshireI went on an awesome local retreat to The Hotel Wilshire in Los Angeles. I took advantage of their 2-night “Weekend Getaway Package” (sometimes the perfect getaway can be found right in your backyard)! The hotel celebrated their 1 year anniversary last month (they opened September, 2011). They are located at Wilshire and Crescent Heights Blvd; a great spot for accommodations because you are central to downtown LA, Beverly Hills, Hollywood and West Hollywood; within a 5-10 minute drive to each city.

This is a true boutique hotel, as although it is on the main thoroughfare of Wilshire, it isThe Hotel Wilshire almost tucked away and easy to miss. However, the privacy and exclusivity of the property is a good reason why many people enjoy visiting the hotel and rooftop restaurant. The Weekend Getaway Package included a welcome bottle of champagne, free valet parking, late checkout at 2pm, complimentary internet, and access to the rooftop restaurant and pool.

The Hotel WilshireThe Hotel Wilshire contains 55 Guestrooms and 19 Suites, including a rooftop penthouse suite. One of the main attractions to the property is their rooftop restaurant, The Roof on Wilshire, which offers panoramic views of the Los Angeles skyline and Hollywood Hills. The pool is located in the middle of the venue, and is available for lounging during the day.  The expansive menu is prepared by celebrity chef, Eric Greenspan, who describes the selection as "Vibrant American, with innovative and creative twists on classic comfort foods”.

I had dinner at the restaurant on a Saturday night, and arrived around 6pm. This was theThe Hotel Wilshire perfect time to catch the sunset and experience the city transition from light to dusk. The restaurant was near capacity at this time, and they attracted many upscale patrons. From the menu, I chose an appetizer of fried calamari, a main dish of Mahi Mahi with a side of kale. All were savory and prepared with maximum flavor. My favorite cocktail was The Mulberry, a blend of raspberry vodka, berries, lime, topped with sparkling wine. The Dark & Stormy mule was a great choice as well. Of course, the best part of the evening was the awe-inspiring view of the city.

MOCASince I am a pro-football fan, I found most convenient the new sports bar located next door to the hotel (The Varsity LA Sports Bar & Lounge). It was nice to be able to walk a few steps, catch a game, and return to the comfort of the hotel. Also located close to the hotel are The Grove shopping center, Los Angeles Museum of Contemporary Art, Peterson Automotive Museum, La Brea Tar Pits, The El Rey Theater, Craft + Folk Art Museum and Architecture and Design Museum.

The Hotel Wilshire is an upscale retreat for enjoying good food, lounging by the pool, and experiencing the many attractions surrounding the property.

  • A short overview of Los Angele A short overview of Los Angeles

    • From: steveven
    • Description:

Los Angeles, often known by its initials L.A., is the most populous city in the U.S. state of California and the second most populous in the United States, and is located in Southern California. The city is the focal point of the larger Los Angeles–Long Beach–Santa Ana metropolitan statistical area and Greater Los Angeles Area region. Los Angeles is also the seat of Los Angeles County, the most populated and one of the most ethnically diverse counties in the United States, while the entire Los Angeles area itself has been recognized as the most diverse of the nation's largest cities. The city's inhabitants are referred to as "Angelenos."

      Culture

Los Angeles is often billed as the "Creative Capital of the World", due to the fact that one in every six of its residents works in a creative industry. According to the USC Stevens Institute for Innovation, "there are more artists, writers, filmmakers, actors, dancers and musicians living and working in Los Angeles than any other city at any time in the history of civilization."

      LA malls and shopping centers:

West LA and Beverly Hills, including Beverly Center Shopping Mall, Rodeo Drive, Two Rodeo, Century City Shopping Center and Westside Pavilion.

Hollywood and nearby, including Hollywood & Highland, Universal CityWalk, Melrose Avenue and Robertson Boulevard Shopping District in West Hollywood.

Downtown and nearby, including California Market Center, LA Fashion District, Santee Alley, Cooper Design Space, Grand Central Market, LA Flower District, Little Tokyo District, Olvera Street, Citadel Factory Outlet.

Mid Wilshire and nearby, including The Grove, Original Farmers Market, West Third Street, Koreatown Galleria and Koreatown Plaza.

South Bay / Redondo Beach, including Del Amo Fashion Center, Manhattan Village Mall, South Bay Galleria, Plaza El Segundo, South Bay Pavilion.

      Los Angeles Nightlife:

ABH: The Thompson Beverly Hills is a destination on its own accord, but when you consider their rooftop pool at ABH you're left with no reason to not be there right now. The pool provides an intimate and secluded environment for sipping cocktails or taking a dip.

Poolside cabanas are few and far-between, but incredibly sought after. Luckily, admittance is reserved exclusively for hotel guests and members so the list to get one stays relatively short.

Apple:  Apple is two-fold, restaurant and entertainment venue. The food comes from the kitchen courtesy of up-and-coming young chef Bryan Ogden, but it is once the plates are cleared that the real fun starts. Over in the Apple Lounge, velvet ropes hold back the average, and only allow the best of the best past.

Avalon Hollywood: Avalon Hollywood in Los Angeles is a historic night club and music venue that attracts some of the hottest performers and musicians in the business. It houses room for nearly 2,000 people, features the exclusive Bardot lounge on the second floor, and plays host to A-list DJ?s. Avalon Hollywood is one of the top destinations for music and party enthusiasts. The historic Avalon is located right across the street from Los Angeles? Capitol Records Building and attracts hundreds of trendy music lovers. With three bars, opera box seating, and outdoor patio Avalon Hollywood is a popular venue for live concerts, dancing, award shows, film screenings, and private events.

Today, all the major studios are here and the city is the world's undisputed king of film-making. Disneyland is the city's major attraction, but LA is also home to world-renowned cultural institutions from the Museum of Contemporary Art to the LA Philharmonic and the stunning Getty Museum so just try this weekend a new experience in your life. Vegas

My friends and I took a 4-day vacation in Las Vegas, and we had a blast due to prior planning and recommendations from past visitors. Here is a guide to different venues and hotspots that we enjoyed for those traveling to the exciting Sin City…

Platinum Hotel_VegasWe decided to stay at the 4-star Platinum Hotel, located off-strip. This was a great choice, as the boutique hotel allowed us intimacy, without the overwhelming hustle and bustle of the big casino hotels. Our room was luxurious, complete with a full kitchen (including a dishwasher), washer and dryer, whirlpool Jacuzzi and state-of-the-art fixtures. The 255-room hotel contains one or two bedroom suites that range from 950 to 2,200 square feet, and contain an outdoor swimming pool, on-site fitness center, day spa, business center, and dry cleaning services. The property hosts many weddings as it is one of the only hotels with a large patio featuring outdoor views of the Strip. For food options, you can choose between the Kilowat Restaurant, which is open from 6am to 2pm for breakfast and lunch, and Stir lounge, which is open for dinner from 4pm to 2am. A unique feature to this lounge is their extensive wine selection (50-100 classic and vintage wines), with an added treat of 50% off special on their classic wines on the weekend. The Platinum Hotel is constantly in the Top 10 rating on TripAdvisor (out of 280 Las Vegas hotels).

Central Michel Richard_VegasAfter checking into our hotel and unpacking, we took a 15 minute walk to Central Michel Richard for lunch, located at Caesars Palace. This was a great start to our weekend, as the restaurant was bright and airy with both outdoor and indoor seating, as well as great views of the Strip. We started off with an appetizer of crab cakes with leeks tartare and ginger aioli. For my main course, I chose the pan seared salmon, which was cooked well done to my preference, and had an awesome burst of flavor through a medley of seasonings. My companion chose the fried chicken and mac ‘n’ cheese. Two of their cocktails, “Blueberry Blitz” and “Granada Sangria” are excellent choices for those who like fruity drinks. This is a great spot for breakfast, lunch, or dinner. For those who enjoy breakfast mid or late-day and like to party late into the night, the restaurant offers a “Late Risers Menu” from 11:30AM to 6AM.

Our first evening in Vegas was a blast, and probably the best night of our vacation. We spentFix in Vegas the evening at the Bellagio hotel, and dined and played at three of their venues: Fix, Lily, and The Bank. We started off at Fix for dinner, which was loungy with architectural, earth-toned décor. We were offset from the middle of the casino, which gave us nice views of the players, but still felt like we were in a restaurant. We started off with the “Ultimate Shell Fix”, which is a perfect appetizer for shellfish lovers. The seafood sampler contained marine lobster, tiger prawns, seasonal crab, market oysters, and clams. The lobster tacos and seabass were two of our favorite menu items. For drinks, we favored the “Raspberry Sin”, followed by the Cucumber Martini and Pineapple Mojito.

Lily lounge_Vegas From Fix, we migrated a few steps over to Lily, an upscale lounge and perfect venue for pre-gaming for a late night.  The décor at Lily contained glass paneling, white lilies in vases, boudoir furniture, and see-through drapes to give a sensual aura about the place. Music selections were diverse, and contained a nice variety of Old School R&B, Country Rock, and Reggae. The best part of the experience was sampling 10 different cocktails on their menu, all created by bartender/mixologist, Emilio Tiburicio. Some of the specialty cocktails include, “Lily” (their signature drink, which is a mixture of lime, vanilla, pear, and blood orange vodka) and the “Hibiscus Margarita” which is similar to Triple Sec, but better quality. My favorite cocktail was the “Sgroppino”, which was a combination of lemon sorbet and Grey Goose Le Citron vodka. Emilio described his creations as having “20 or 30 different flavors in one cocktail”. I recommend this venue for those that love creative and one-of-a-kind drinks.

      Lily in Vegas

The Bank_VegasAfter getting our fill of cocktails at Lily, we went to The Bank, a two level nightclub with 8,000 square feet of dance and lounge space. They have VIP rooms available that accommodate up to 75 people, and we experienced having bottle service in their VIP area, which was a blast. The music selection ranged from House to Hip Hop and featured an elegant décor of black, gold, and Cristal adorned walls. The club is open Friday through Sunday starting at 10:30 p.m. and always attracts a large number of partygoers.

Zip lining with FlgihtlineZFriday morning, we decided to experience something adventurous; we went zip lining at Bootleg Canyon, hosted by FlightlineZ. This was an adrenaline pumping activity, and it was also great to see another area of Nevada outside of the strip. The excursion departs from Excalibur hotel located on the Strip, and takes around 30 minutes to get to the zip lining destination. The activity was a one-of-a-kind experience, where you zip line from four different levels at speeds of around 65 miles per hour, for a total of 1.56 miles and a total elevation drop of 1200 feet. The view is breathtaking; overlooking orange mountains and arid terrain. The length of the zip lines are 1852ft, 1864ft, 2546ft, and 1150ft, consecutively. This is unique because the 3rd zip line at 2546ft is the longest in Nevada and the 3rd longest in the country. The hosts were extremely gregarious and experts at making you feel comfortable throughout the excursion.

Friday evening we attended Holly Madison’s Peepshow. The burlesque show is described as beingPeepshowtantalizing fun, taking audiences through a glamorous enchanted adult playground”. The show was created by Tony Award-winning director/choreographer Jerry Mitchell, who directed both Legally Blonde and Hairspray. The name, “Peepshow” is a clever play on words and a fitting description of the program in that there were characters called “Bo Peep”, “Peep Diva”, as well as the obvious reference to the sexy burlesque show. The theme of the show is childhood fairytales with a sexy, adult twist. The element that was the most enjoyable was the wide range of diverse women performing, from black, white, to Hispanic, with different body types and personalities. These were not your stereotypical Vegas Showgirls, however, each woman had a unique sexiness to them, and the choreography and performances were top notch. This is a performance to go see immediately, as the last show takes place December, 2012.

      Peepshow_Vegas

Ghost Bar in VegasFriday night we went to Palms hotel to experience their nightlifeRain nightclub_Vegas scene. We started at Ghost Bar, a rooftop lounge situated on the sweeping 55th floor of the hotel. The 360-degree view of Vegas from this level was awe-inspiring. Compared to the many massive-sized clubs and lounges in Vegas, this venue was intimate and sexy, and thus frequently attracts the celebrity clientele. The lounge contained indoor and outdoor partitions, with plush, white furniture. After visiting Ghost Bar, we went next door to Rain, a popular club for House music, and contains 25,000 square feet of dance space with an upscale interior.

Slice of VegasAfter a night of partying, we slept in until lunchtime, and decided to dine at Slice of Vegas located at Mandalay Place (a shopping area located in between Mandalay Bay hotel and Luxor and contains affordable boutique shopping and dining choices). Slice of Vegas is an Italian eatery described by the manager, Tony Cordovana, as being “fresh casual Italian”. We started with an appetizer of calamari, which is cut fresh in-house. For the table, we ordered the “Four Cheese Truffle” pizza, a white pizza with mozzarella, ricotta, Parmigiano-Reggiano and fontina cheeses over a roasted garlic Alfredo sauce. The restaurant makes both their pizzas and sauces in house. Slice of Vegas is also popular for their alcoholic beverages, which include their 60 different types of beers and specialty cocktails. One of their favorites is the “You Dirty Tomato” cocktail, a bacon-flavored vodka with Bloody Mary and a pepperoni straw: not for the faint of heart (or vegetarians).

After leaving Slice of Vegas, we stopped next door at Fat Tuesday (comparable to Wet Willie’s in Miami)Liquid_Vegas and had jello shots along with a 190 Octane drink, which contains 3 shots of EverClear grain alcohol. By the time we arrived at our next destination, we had a nice buzz going. Our destination was Liquid, a pool party at Aria hotel located on the Strip. The venue contains two luxury VIP pools, 8 grand private cabanas, each of which is equipped with a 40” flat screen TV and mini fridge.  The entire property is internet-ready, so you can relax on one of the chaise lounges or day beds that line the 1,200 square-foot pool. There is also a restaurant that offers pool side dining with a menu prepared by Chef Brian Massie.

That evening, we dined at Strip House, located at the Planet Hollywood Resort & Casino. Strip House is a fine dining experience that offers an innovative menu with sultry interior designs by David Rockwell. For appetizers we had the lobster bisque, mac ‘n’ cheese, and truffle spinach. Each was flavorsome and expertly baked. I chose the 2 pound shelled lobster with butter sauce as my entrée, which needed no help from side dishes. My companion chose the “Crisp Skin Scottish Salmon” entree, adorned with artichokes, pancetta, fingerling Potatoes and basil sauce. Perhaps the icing on the cake was literally their famous 24-layer chocolate layer cake, which we had for desert. According to the manager, they’ve sold 10 tons of the cake since its opening 5 years ago. The ambiance of the restaurant is perfect for a romantic date, with original 1900’s black and white nude photos adorning the sexy blood-red interior.

      Strip House

Rehab_VegasOur last day in Vegas (Sunday) was an explosive culmination to our vacation. We spent the day at Rehab, a pool party located at the Hard Rock Hotel. I nicknamed the event, “the Coachella of pool parties” because of its immense popularity, including it being featured as its own reality show. Rehab takes place during the summer months, and features an A-list performer (Nelly performed at our weekend’s event) every Sunday and packs around 3,200 patrons each event. Chris Brown performed during the Sunday of Labor Day weekend, and the property usually gets around 4,700 patrons during the holidays. Resident DJ’s, Wellman and Shift play a range of music from house to R&B and Hip Hop.

  • GUIDE 2 LESBIAN EVENTS IN LA! GUIDE 2 LESBIAN EVENTS IN LA!

    • From: ajjordan2
    • Description:

Whether you’re a native to Los Angeles or a passing visitor, African American women oftentimes have a hard time finding diverse lesbian events to attend that fit their style. Here is an exciting list of party promotions in the LA area that guarantee a diverse crowd:

      Chocolate & Wine

Created by Mignon and DJ One in 2004, this monthly party was established “to help promote a sense of community for women who love women.” The organizers started their Chocolate n Wine events in New York City, which gained immense popularity, before moving to Los Angeles in 2007 and creating their presence here. The women are a more upscale and an older crowd than most lesbian parties in LA (average age is between 30-40). Events include dance parties, lounge parties, wine tastings, happy hours, game nights, single’s events, open mic performances, travel destinations and other activities. The parties are unique in that they change venues each month (recent venues include the Robertson, Nirvana, Kyoto Grand Hotel, and the Federal Bar). Recently, the two threw their bachelorette party at the Robertson, which featured free admission, open bar, appetizers, and strippers. This is just the tip of the iceberg, and according to Mignon, “We wanted to create a venue where black women should have no public shame and celebrate themselves”.

       Chocolate n Wine party

Follow their moves here and see where their next monthly event will be held: http://www.chocolatenwine.com/

      The Catch

The opposite of the Chocolate n Wine party is the Catch, which attracts the much younger crowd (18 and up). The lesbian nights are held every Saturday at Jewels Catch One on Pico, and draw a predominantly Black crowd. Jewel’s Catch One opened its doors in 1972 as the nation’s first black gay and lesbian disco, named after the founder, Jewel Thais-Williams. The venue contains two levels: a stage and large dance floor on the upper level, and a lower level that hosts weekly theme parties. The atmosphere is pretty loose, and you can come casual or dressy as you please. If you come on the right night, you will see strippers entertaining you from every corner of the dance floor. The venue has been used as a set for many movies such as “Pretty Woman”, “I’m Gonna Get you Sucker”, and “BAP” (Black American Princesses).

       Catch One Nightclub

Check out their weekly events here: http://catchonenightclub.com/

      Ladies Touch Entertainment

The promoters of Ladies Touch Entertainment are known for their summer monthly rooftop parties at the downtown Los Angeles lounge, Icon. Events are hosted by Vivienne Perez, Sinath Yang, Erica Sanchez, Lady Polo, and AJ Johnson. The day party’s atmosphere is complete with dancers, mega-speakers, and an upscale crowd. They also host events at rotating venues, with a recent party being on a cruise ship, called the “Booze Cruise”, as well as a Labor Day weekend party hosted at club Naya in Silverlake. Some of their past events include their New Years Black Out Event at the Standard Hotel Downtown, Los Angeles & Long Beach Pride Events, as well as Dinah Shore's leading diverse event- “A Touch of Seduction”. Their parties usually attract the diverse, but grown-and-sexy crowd and you have a good chance of meeting someone that fits your type. Look forward to new events for the fall, socials, and travel events, they’re doing some awesome things to give back to the community.

       Ladies Touch Ent Events

      Tomboii Swagg

Fantasy Fridays at the Robertson is a new party that they created this summer, which is a huge success because of their “no cover all night” appeal. You will find a nice amount of black ladies (stud and femme) that attend this Friday night bash. The Robertson also affords a good sized-venue, with three rooms where you can dance on the dance floors, or chill in the outdoor lounge area. The competing lesbian Friday night party is “Truck Stop”, which is located across the street at Here lounge. Many people choose to migrate from one party to the next.

In LA, night spots close early (around 2am), so there is a need for “After Hours” venues. Tomboii Swagg hosts “Hip Hop Sundays at Eleven Nightclub”, where you can pregame and dance at the popular lesbian Sunday night party at the Abbey, and then walk a couple blocks to Eleven, which doesn’t close until 4am. You’ll find an intimate crowd at this lounge, where you can chill, have a drink, and listen to some hip hop to end your night.

Our family traveled to Marrakech June 2012, for the very first time! It was an amazing experience that we are looking forward to repeating in the near future. Marrakech is a very beautiful and exciting city, full of interesting sights and smells and noises not common for us in the western world. It is a photographer's heaven. The people are very friendly, the food very tasty and the bargain abounds... really they do... the only catch is that if buying anything there, keep in mind that before venturing to any store, you must first establish a price in your head that you feel confortable paying, otherwise that bargain might end up being too costly. Moroccans are very skilled at negotiating prices, and they tend to hike them up 400% or more... LOL Kids will also love this wonderful city!

  • Yangshuo Village Inn, Yangshuo Yangshuo Village Inn, Yangshuo China

    • From: pekingman
    • Description:

The guesthouse bills itself as Yangshuo's first boutique hotel and it's masterfully done, with a Chinese-Western eclectic mix of design elements and simple but comfortable rooms. The Inn is located in Moon Hill Village, just outside of Yangshuo and features a rooftop restaurant and shady pomelo grove for breakfast and drinks. There's also a quiet back garden where they grow vegetables for the restaurant.

THe staff are awesome, great English, supremely helpful and happy. Service is not hurried, so if you stay, it's more a relaxing family-style experience versus international hotel 5-star standard. Check out their website at http://www.yangshuoguesthouse.com and be sure to book well in advance especially in Summer. Be sure to ask for a balcony room where you can see Moon Hill.

    • Description:

It was quite a surprise to find an Italian restaurant in the Yangshuo Moon Hill Village. The owners hired an Italian chef to train the local staff and the result is impressive. The pizzas are among the best anywhere and the views of Moon Hill and the surrounding Village are spectacular.

Luna is on the roof ot the Yangshuo Village Inn, which is a boutique eight-room guesthouse located about 8km outside of Yangshuo town, close to several of the well-known caves. There's more information about the guesthouse at http://www.yangshuoguesthouse.com.

Definitely try the pizza, salads and homemade fennel sausage. Also, this place has the most impressive imported wine collection in any Chinese small hotel. It's worth the trip out here, best to arrive before sunset to see Moon Hill.

  • Lumina Luxury suites and Mexic Lumina Luxury suites and Mexico City

    • From: dannerd
    • Description:

The Lumina Luxury Suites Hotel is a modern, 8 month old private enclave in the Polanco section of Mexico City. The hotel is within walking distance (10-15 min walk) of Chapultapec Park - the zoo and many of the major museums are in the park.

The Lumina is a true oasis in the hustle & bustle of Mexico City. It is for residents only and you get buzzed in - reception is manned 24/7. The hotel & decor is modern with lots of black, white, silver, and pale pastels in the color scheme. On check in you are greeted by Barbara, the hotel manager and shown to your room and given a tour of this wonderful hotel. Check in is quick, pleasant and very efficient. Right now most of the guests are business travelers with a few of us leisure travelers - they would love to start getting more leisure travelers and Barbara was happy that I was going to do a write up of the place.

There are 12 suites in total - 1 and 2 bedroom. All of the 2 bedroom suites have private courtyards and only 1 of the 1 bedroom suites has a private courtyard. We had a 2 bedroom and I highly recommend the 2 bedroom suite - a true home away from home. Our suite had 1 bedroom with a king bed and the other bedroom had 2 twin beds. There is a living/dining room combination, a full kitchenette, 2 bathrooms and 1 large courtyard and a smaller courtyard. All areas of the suite were tastefully and comfortably furnished and the kitchen came equipped with china and silverware for 4, pots and pans, microwave, coffee and tea maker and a reasonably priced fully stocked mini bar. The bathrooms are large and had robes, slippers, hairdryer and nice toiletry articles - very soft and fluffy towels too! Even q-tips and cotton pads for wiping your face. The living area had a comfy leather couch and the dining area had a table and chairs for 4. Everything you would need for an extended stay. Bose sound system with a removable Ipod that you could take for your walks around the city and what was really neat - when you check in there is mobile concierge service - they give you a mobile phone that is programmed with the Lumina's number that you can take with you on your travels around MC -if you get lost or just tired - hit the number for Lumina and they will immediately send a cab to pick you up - we did not need to use this but it was nice to know that we had this option if we needed it!.
The courtyard off the living area was truly private with comfortable chairs and a table and we enjoyed sitting out there in the mornings and evenings. The smaller courtyard had 2 chairs and a table if you wanted to eat outside. The courtyard walls are composed of Lumina's signature living garden walls - pretty neat concept - concrete walls entirely planted with flowers. The beds were the most comfortable hotel beds I have ever slept on - soft as silk linens and a very fluffy comforter - I felt like I was sleeping on a cloud all enveloped in my cozy nest - did not want to get out of bed in the morning!!! On check in they ask what time you would like your continental breakfast and what kind of juice, teac, coffee, etc. you would like - it is delivered and they set the table for you and you are ready to eat - good selection of breads, rolls, fruit and excellent service. The hotel also has a small gym, steam and sauna rooms, great spa (we did not have time to use the services but the information they sent me had some very enticing treatments listed) and a real nice rooftop deck.
The restaurant is for guests and their friends only and since we only had 2 nights we ate in the restaurant both nights and food and service were excellent.
We arrived around 12 noon and wanted to go to the museum - the concierge got a map and great directions all ready for us and away we went to Chapultapec park - walking throught the park is very pleasant with lots of statues lining the way. We passed the zoo which was huge and wished we had time for a visit. We arrived at the National Museum of Anthropology and it is a must see for any visitor to Mexico City - wonderful exhibits of all the different time periods and indigenous people of Mexico. After about 4 hours in the museum we headed back to Lumina for a wonderful dinner and a comfy nights rest. 2 nights dinner and laundry services ran us about $130US - pretty reasonably priced for a 5 star hotel.
The next day we used the services of Wayak tours for a trip to Teotihuacan - Wayak has very reasonably priced tours and very informative guides - I would recommend them for your stay in Mexico City - they also have tours in many other places in Mexico and a whole fleet of buses that can take you all over Mexico. Our tour not only included Teotihuacan but the Shrine of the Virgin of Guadalupe and a brief 45 min stop in the main zocalo of MC. All place that any visitor to MC should see. Teotihuacan is awesome and so big!
I am sorry we only had 2 nights in this wonderful hotel & city - we could have easily spent a week at Lumina! I am not usually a big fan of real modern hotels and decor but it worked well here and you felt at home - we absolutely loved it and would go back again!
