  • Top Biking Adventures in Vietn Top Biking Adventures in Vietnam

    • From: acitvetraveasia
    • Description:
As a country with every terrain imaginable, Vietnam offers a memorable bicycling adventure for any and all peddlers, regardless of experience or condition. The flat expanse of the Mekong Delta grows to rugged mountains in the central expanse and then blends into the widest variety of difficulty north near Hanoi.
      Traffic and Bicycle Laws
Along with standard laws like not causing traffic problems by racing or zigzagging, Vietnam has few laws targeted specifically toward the bicyclist. It is important to remember not to carry cumbersome loads, carry children over age seven with you or ride more than two abreast. No sort of helmet or lighting is required, but bicyclists are not allowed to ride with open umbrellas. One can only guess what happened to make this law.
      Common Trips
For those interested in adventure and active trips, there are some routes that will take you through and explore the backcountry while providing some modicum of modern amenities. ACTIVETRAVEL ASIA_one of the travel companies offering cycling tours in Indochina_ is received good reviews of adventure travelers.
      Biking Mekong Delta
The easiest of these is around the Mekong Delta. With a terrain nearly devoid of any rise, these trips are easier, but by no means less scenic, than the others. Traveling through the expanse of rice paddies dotted with the occasional copse of trees, the rider will be joined by children cycling to or from school or women returning from the market. People in the villages will be pleasantly surprised to see a foreigner riding into town and a circuit from Ho Chi Minh to any of the surrounding villages is an easy ride. With the flat terrain and abundance of villages it is easy to take a trip of any length, whether only a day or two weeks, a rider can tour without backtracking.
Biking Mai chau, Hoa Binh province
The northern area allows for more wooded scenery while still allowing for easier trips. For the more adventurous, the northern area provides a greater degree of difficulty through the hills surrounding Hanoi. This trip offers a great opportunity to see the two area of outstanding nature beauty; the North West highlands of Mai Chau and the limestone mountains of Ninh Binh. Biking is a great way to see this fascinating and visually stunning part of Vietnam, offering both physical activity and the unique opportunity to observe a way of life that has changed little over the centuries. As we ride in Mai Chau we encounter Muong and White Thai minorities and are guests in their traditional stilt houses allowing us to see firsthand how these minority peoples live. In Ninh Binh we explore the beauty of “Halong Bay on the rice fields” on bikes.
      Biking Ho Chi Minh trail
A new trip for the adventurous would be along the historical Ho Chi Minh trail. The so-called Ho Chi Minh Trail is one of the most renowned legends of the American War. The complicated road system winds along the Truong Son Range, which that facilitated movement of soldiers and war supplies from North Vietnam to battlefields in South Vietnam. Now the historic trail is being turned into a highway and hotels and towns are springing up speedily beside it. The route is incredibly beautiful with new mountain views around every corner, very little traffic, and virtually no tourists.
      Weather
Weather in Southeast Asia is a big consideration and it is recommended to go from Late September to December or March to late May. The weather in the southern area of Vietnam stays warm and humid averaging 26°C with its rainy season from June to September. BE WARNED: Vietnam sees monsoonal rains starting in June, peaking in August and tapering down in September. This season varies depending on location; Hanoi in the north generally has a rainy season that peaks earlier while Ho Chi Minh City may not see its rains slack until early October. Vietnam, especially central Vietnam, often floods and can hold up a trip for a week before the waters recede.
The hot season will see temperatures averaging 30°C, with the south staying warm all year round and the north seeing winter trends averaging 15°C. Depending on the time of year, it would be advisable to take a jacket to keep off the chill, especially if riding in the highlands, and a hat to protect against the sun.
      Other Considerations
Visas must be applied for at least six months prior to entry date. Tourist visas are granted for one month, but may be extended after arrival in Vietnam, and only allow one entry into the country. Tourists must fill out arrival/departure papers and declaration papers, keeping both with the passport at all times. It is also recommended having a few extra passport-size photos with you as local authorities may request these and it is always a good idea to stay on the good side of authorities.
With over two-thirds of its roads unpaved and those paved roads sporting an abundance of potholes, the road conditions almost require a mountain bike.
The lush landscapes and warm hospitality provide anyone with a good biking tour of Vietnam. Take the time to look around and smell the proverbial “roses”.

  • ACTIVETRAVEL ASIA recommends f ACTIVETRAVEL ASIA recommends for customers when riding in Vietnam

    • From: acitvetraveasia
    • Description:

Vietnam is a frontier destination and a motorbike ride on a motorcycle through its rugged mountains is an unparalleled adventure. Be amongst the first to explore a land steeped in natural beauty and rich cultural heritage and experience face-to-the-wind just what this wonderful country has to offer.
      Motobiking Vietnam
Riding in Vietnam is not for the feint of heart. It has the second highest rate of traffic fatalities in the world and is the second most dangerous place on earth for motorcyclists, just after India. There are approximately 40 traffic fatalities per day in the country. The way people ride in Vietnam is very different from yours : no rules! To ensure an authentic taste, make sure to ignore any Traffic Rules you know. This should help to achieve a fine balance between two-wheeled fun, fine roads, beautiful landscapes and complete and utter chaos.
      1. Do and don't

These following rules are practical and informal:
      Do:

      - The traffic looks very crazy at first, but it’s not that bad. It’s like a river and when you are in it you have to flow. First rule is no rules.
      - Larger vehicles have right of way. Avoid anything bigger than you and slow down.
      - Use signal and the most important thing is the horn. People don’t care about the noise of horns.
      - Use both brakes at the same time with more back brake as if you apply more front brake it slips
      - Our guides were born and grow up in Vietnam, so they understand Vietnamese traffic. Follow the guide, ride behind him for safety.
      Do not:

      - Speed limit in Vietnam is very low (25-80km/h). Don’t break the speed limit.
      - Don’t ride on one wheel (free wheelie).
      - Animals are everywhere in the country or mountain roads. Dogs and chickens are the most then come water buffaloes, cows, pigs and horses…If you kill a dog or a chicken don’t stop, cry and feel sorry, it’s not your fault. Slow down and don’t hit water buffaloes, cows, pigs and horses, simply they are too big!
      - Do not drink and drive.
      Important:

      - Be careful with spilt oil from trucks and buses at curves on the mountain roads, extremely slippery and we have had at least four small accidents related to this matter.
      - Your guide leads the group and he gives you hand/body language if there are big pot holes, trucks, blind curves or any danger. He can see you in the mirrors and if you want to stop use the signal or simply pull off but be careful with riders behind you. If you got lost, just stop and wait for someone to find you or call us.
      - If the police stop you (this rarely happens), your guide will not come back. He will wait for you, out of sight up the road. Just keep talking English or whatever you want and they’ll soon give up and let you go in less than five minutes.
      - If a bike is technically broken, we will replace with the same type of bike or the next available model.
      2. What to bring:

You don’t need to bring everything with you on the trip, pack essential things in a small bag (medium size, max 10kg) and put it on the back of the bike.
Here are items we suggest for motorcycle touring:
      - Clothing: rain gloves, Wellington boots (rubber boots for rainy season from April to September), summer gloves, balaclava, T-shirts, socks & underwear, long sleeved shirts, turtleneck shirts, extra jeans, a light jacket, leather chaps, zip-lock bags, riding boots, bandannas, sunglasses, goggles, and contact lens solution.
      - Personal items: basic toiletries, emergency cash, sunscreen and earplugs.
      - Emergency items: a first aid kit, emergency contact number, list medical conditions, list medications, a flashlight, chargers and a duct tape.
      - Miscellaneous: a small towel, a bath towel, trash bags, camera and cargo net…and probably some gifts for children.
      3. Group Size

      Motobike Vietnam
The maximum group size for rides in the north is from 5 to 8 people per group (limited to 6 motorcycles), riders or pillion passengers. This will enhance your experience and ensure a high degree of personal attention. Rides down the Ho Chi Minh Trail, however, can accommodate much larger groups because we use a support vehicle at your request (extra fees applied). Small groups enable us to trek into remote areas with minimal intrusion to the local cultures. Riding in a large convoy with all the inherent complications and delays is just not our way.
The best group size is from three to four riders, not too many and not too little. More people means more fun but too big a group means less information the guide can provide as he needs to take care of your safety. Our largest group ever was 12 riders but we divided into two groups and two guides came on the trip.

  • Qingdao Qingdao

    • From: x123456
    • Description:

The old town of Qingdao is very special, with a lot of European-style architectures there. Almost across each mountain, there are some parks and also some residences of celebrities. If you stay in a hotel in Qingdao, it’s better to choose the one near to the sea because in autumn, there are a lot of beautiful landscapes that you are able to see anytime when walking out of your hotel.

The trestle of Qingdao, located in the south of Zhongshan Road where there are a number of tourists, is built over a gulf for visitors to board the sightseeing ship to cruise on the river.

The trestle is as old as some of the buildings in Qingdao. In Qing Dynasty, an imperial envoy Li Hung-Chang came to Qingdao to inspect. During that time, he wanted to take a big ship there, but since Qingdao was a very small village where there was no port, the ship could not be parked. A harbor which was later built for temporarily use and rebuilt for several times is not a port any more now but an art gallery where some of art works are exhibited.

What’s more, the trestle is the symbol of Qingdao which is a must-visit scenic spot. At the end of the trestle is a pavilion which looks really special against the European-style buildings around it, with double eaves of Chinese traditional styles on the roof. The trestle which is situated over the gulf is 440 meters long and 8 meters wide with concrete structures. At the south part of it is a half round jetty. There is an attic with eight corner angles where tourists are able to see layers of waves surging. The attic has bee approved as one of the best scenic spots in Qingdao. On the other hand, the night views around the trestle are much more beautiful in daytime than in nighttime.

The Christian church in Qingdao is a well-known religious building located at Road 15, near to Xinhao Shan Park in the east where there are magnificent landscapes.
The wide and flat square in front of the church looks very magnificent against a forest and all kinds of western-style architectures around it. Stepping onto narrow steps, you will see its strong walls, half round window frames, pitched roofs and bell tower.

The Christian church is a typical German-style building composed of a bell tower and an auditorium. The bell tower on which you are able to have a bird view of sea views is 39.10 meters high, with a huge clock on there that makes the solemn church mysterious. On the other hand, the auditorium which is composed of two floors, with delicate decoration of the interior looks very special and accommodates thousands of people at a time.

  • Ali Mountain in Taiwan Ali Mountain in Taiwan

    • From: x123456
    • Description:

Located 75 kilometers away in the east of Jiayi City in Taiwan, Ali Mountain which is surrounded by high mountains is National Forest Recreation Area with an altitude of more than 2000 meters high and with an area of 1400 hectares, where it’s very cool, with an average temperature at 10.6 centigrade. And It’s averagely 14.3 centigrade in summer and 6.4 centigrade in winter.

On our way to Ali Mountain, we sometimes had some rest. At about 11 in the morning, we arrived at the scenic area of Ali Mountain. As expected, refreshing breeze was blowing to me, with clouds haunting groups of beautiful mountains, and sometimes on my skin dropped some water drops which seeped into my skin pores as if they relieved me of some of my tiredness and depression. That’s what I had prayed and dreamed for in my dream. Before we got there, we were all expecting to see beautiful Ali Mountain that looks hazy with some mists haunting it.

And We were also expecting to breathe fresh air there. First of all, we went to Fengqi Lake in Jiayi County at an altitude of 1.405 meters high. Initially, it’s called Fengji Lake because it looks like a dustpan; however since the name sounds very inelegant, later it was given that name. On the other hand, near to a relay station of the railway station in Ali Mountain where trains often pass by is Fengqi Lake, and there are the oldest streets, train-shaped cookies, fast food, and so on. That’s a must-go place for tourists who come to Taiwan.

When I came to Fengqi Lake for the first time, I wanted to have a taste of some fast food there sold at the railway station. Surprisingly, it tasted much better than I had expected. Despite a drumstick, a spiced corned egg, and some vegetable as my simple dishes for my lunch, they reminded me of the past.       Furthermore, From the internal decoration of the railway station, I could imagine the hardships railway workers had gone through.

The Old Street of Fengqi Lake is situated 500 meters away from the train station. In the times when Taiwan was ruled by Japan, the Old Street was a town where geta shoes were made. Ever since tourist industry in Ali Mountain got developed, different kinds of special local foods have been sold at shops in the street, such as local fast food, Toufu, cake and some other delicious food that are all very popular to tourists. Those ancient buildings which were built there along mountains make Fengqi Lake more classic and also this shows Taiwan had a very old culture and history.

  • A trip to Anhui Province A trip to Anhui Province

    • From: x123456
    • Description:

Speaking of Shanzhu Temple, it’s a well-known scenic area in Anhui Province. It’s approved in 2009 by the United Nations Educational Scientific and Cultural Organization as an international geological park covering an area of 135.12 square kilometer meters. Each year, tourists from around the world are attracted here to visit it.

Shanzhu Temple in which the statues like the heavenly king and king kong look very august was built along mountains mostly with red bricks. Lihua Tower was constructed earlier in Ming Dynasty to be in honor of an eminent monk named Sanzhu, and Sangao Pavilion to be honor of another eminent monk Gaoshi. Standing on the floor of the temple, I could see an ancient tower with 20 meters high which was built in Tang Dynasty. On its wall, there are some pictures of bodhisattva. What’s more, the outline looks complicated in the distance but very simple in fact. On the other hand, I was told by a monk that there is a path in the tower leading to Tianzhu Mountain. Later, I was sticking around a little bit longer in the temple, and there were not other visitors except me and my friends because it was almost lunch time.

Not walking out of the temple very far, we saw a tranquil path and kept walking for less than 10 kilometers to see an old man was sweeping the road. He told us that the tea house was 30 kilometers away, which really surprised us. Anyway, we had to go there. we just kept moving but with uncertainty. Going hundred meters away, we saw a bus and took it with RMB 8 to the tea house equipped with a parking lot. What’s more, a lot of tourists were there.

The entrance gate of the scenic area Tianzhu Mountain is located at where it’s 500 meters away from the tea house. It’s actually developed by local famers. The entrance tickets are sold at the price of RMB 60. Inside it, there are some beautiful waterfalls.

At about 3:40 pm when we just entered the scenic area, a lake that is not very big came into our sight. It’s called Peach Blossom Lake, famous for that fact that in spring many peach blossom flowers are in blossom beside the lake.

Every hundred meters or every one to two kilometers, there are some landscapes, such as waterfalls or rivers, and a few of houses can be seen. Beside the road, I saw first bamboo forests and then pine trees some needles of which are shorter  but some others of which are longer. In addition, a week ago after a snow, the pine needles were covered with ice. It’s really interesting.

We were keeping walking along streams and through a forest, hearing a rumble from time to time at the distance, and walked a few hundred meters further on the mountain road before we came to the waterfall. It’s called Tongtian Waterfall. Normally we watch waterfalls upward, but we can also do that downward. The whole valley is 3.5 kilometers long. Thinking of visiting Tianzhu Mountain later, we just went back to our hotel in hurry for rest.

We have two routes for climbing Tianzhu Mountain. when we started, it’s at about 1 pm.

At the beginning, we walked for about 40 minutes. On the way, views were not so bad, overlooked at the distance. On that day, since fog was heavy, we were unable to see anything more clearly. Across a frozen river, we came to a place called Zhengyigang, where you can look around in the pavilion with one hundred square meter. Beside the pavilion, it’s written on a landmark that the place zhengyigang is near to Tianzhu Mountain on which you are able to see magnificent mountain peaks.

Walking from Zhengyigang for less than 200 meters, I felt as if I had stepped into a fairyland with heavy fog and saw some of irregular boulders there with thousand years history. The landscapes in Tianzhushan come into your sight magically, with different-shaped and different-sized boulders presenting in front of you unexpectedly, with some snow on them.

      I really enjoyed the trip.

  • 6 Tips for Riding Safely A Mot 6 Tips for Riding Safely A Motorbike In Vietnam

    • From: activetravelasia
    • Description:

      1. Forget What Road Rules You Already Know

Riding a motorbike in Vietnam (or any vehicle in South East Asia for that matter!) is very different to what you may be used back at home. The first thing you should know is that while road rules do exist, when on the road they cease to exist-if you get my drift! Forget trying to indicate, using your mirrors or going the speed limit-it just doesn't happen. At first this may take some getting used to but after a while it works. So many times we would see Vietnamese on their Moto’s pulling out of a road onto a major highway without even looking! It’s just a given that everyone moves around them or out of their way. Now while I’m not saying you should never look when pulling out (a lot of things you’ll still do instinctively) but rather you need to flex your rules to how the Vietnamese do things. For example, while Anthony was riding, if we needed to cross lanes, merge, turn or even slow down I would just stick my hand out (either left or right depending which way) and give it a little shake. Who needs indicators when you have a good old hand wiggle! The thing is, it worked. People knew where we were trying to go. It might seem a little awkward at first, trying to adapt but after a while their driving becomes second nature.

      2. Keep Up With The Flow Of Traffic

This is probably one of the most important things you can do whilst on a bike. When you first get on, you make feel like you want to go slow (because it feels safer) but in all honesty, doing that will get you into an accident. In larger cities-because there are so many motorbikes-there is an ebb and flow to the traffic. Keeping up with this so called ‘pulse’ makes it easier to move on the road. If you’re travelling on major highways, always keep to the very edge of the road and try and go about 60km/h. It’s unlikely you’ll be able to go any faster and going slower is likely to cause more accidents.

      3. Have Tea Breaks

If you’re on the road for most of the day, it is important to stop for tea breaks. Along both main and country roads there are countless teahouses that will offer you an ice-cold cup of ‘tra da’ (iced tea) for less than a dollar. Many of these places will also serve a soup or a rice dish too if you’re hungry. These stops are important so you can stretch your legs and have a bit of a break from riding, but they are also a great place to meet locals, have a chat with them and get a view into their daily life.

      4. Get A Decent Road Map

Now while it may sound adventurous and rather ‘Bear Grylls’ of you to travel without a map, it is smarter idea to carry one with you on your trip. Not only can you decide where you want to ride to next, you can also pick and choose places a little more easily. We bought maps (from a bookstore near Hoan Kiem Lake, Hanoi) that were detailed, had how many km’s there was between towns and also had tourist sites for some places.

Road signs are actually pretty good in Vietnam and many places/roads were labelled and corresponded to our map. On the off chance they didn't  or we weren't sure where we were going, we just pulled up somewhere and asked the locals for some help. We would show them the town on the map and then they would point us in the right direction. Everyone we met was willing and happy to help (so boys, don’t worry about asking for directions!) Not only will a map help keep you safe it is also great to keep check of everywhere you visited in Vietnam.

      5. Take Back Roads

When you can, take the back roads to your next stop. Not only will they allow you travel slower and be less crowded, but more often than not the sights are breathtaking and the people very friendly.

Running pretty much the entire length of the country is Highway 1. It’s busy, dusty and very fumy. However, to get to coastal towns, there are times when you’ll have to travel on this. Otherwise opt for the scenic and beautiful, Ho Chi Minh Trail. This road is very quiet, smooth and much more pleasant. Take your time and travel these smaller quieter roads, wherever possible.

      6. Don’t Ride At Night For Long Periods

Riding at night is ok if you’re just going out to eat or visit markets etc, but try not to travel at night on your bike. Many of the roads have no streetlights, so at night it is more difficult to see what may be ahead of you. There are many dogs, chickens, cows they are constantly on the road, so running into one of them on the road wouldn't be pleasant or safe. Also, some Vietnamese don’t travel with their headlights on which makes them harder to see. The bottom line-don’t travel at night for a long period of time.

      Now Enjoy The Freedom!

With these tips in mind, get out there are enjoy riding through Vietnam! You now have the freedom to go wherever and whenever you’d want. Stumbling upon little towns you never thought existed or meeting some of the friendliest people in the world, will surely be an amazing experience. Hopefully you’ll enjoy it just as much as we did!

  • The Great Wall at Badaling The Great Wall at Badaling

    • From: x123456
    • Description:

The Great Wall at Badaling, located in the north of Yangqing County in Beijing, is one of the typical and well-preserved scenic areas that were opened to the public earlier.

The topography of Badaling is very precipitous, occupying a commanding position. After some parts of the walls on the Great Wall were rebuilt in 1953, the Great Wall became a scenic area, where there are 3741 meters long areas in total for sightseeing, including 1176 meters of them in the south and 2565 meters in the north, and also there are 16 enemy broadcasting stations. The Great Wall at Badaling was announced as an officially protected historical site in March 1961, as a scenic area in 1982, as the first of ten scenic spots of the nation in 1986, and as world cultural heritage in 1987. During those years from 2000 to 2009, more than 500 country leaders from all around the world visited the Great Wall at Badaling. On the 8th of May in 2007, it was approved as a scenic area with national AAAAA level.
There are some of other scenic spots, besides the Great Wall, like the Golden Fish Pond, Qijingguang Garden, Yuanconghuan Garden and so on.

Climbing the Great Wall is a kind of entertainment activity. On the other hand, it’s worth a visit , if you go to the sculpture image museum, where you are able to know a lot of Chinese scholars.
Having got off the bus, I walked for 80 meters further to the entrance of Badaling.after that, I began climbing the Great Wall. Although it’s a little tired, you will feel a kind of sense of achievement when you look down from a higher position at the Great wall. If you like, you may visit the Great Wall at Badaling one day by your self, through our service of China holidays.

  • A trip in Qinghuangdao Isalnd A trip in Qinghuangdao Isalnd

    • From: x123456
    • Description:

I was planning to go to Qinghuangdao Island located in the northeast of Heibei Province in China. I took a train from Beidai River to Shanhaiguan, a scenic area in Qinghuangdao City which has some parts of the features of ancient Great wall, after I bought a train ticket in Beijing at 9 o’ clock in the morning. At the Liuzhuang Village, I took the bus number 34 to the Coastal Bus Station, where there are buses number 22 and number 5 going to the train station of Beidai River. I got off from the number 34 bus and then a few minutes later comes the bus number 22. I just got on the bus without studying any difference of the routes between the bus the number 5 and the bus number 22. However, I was told that there are 8 more bus stops if I take the bus number 22 rather than the number 5 bus to the train station. Having compared the bus route of the bus number 22 with that of the bus number 5 on the map, I was a little worried about whether I have enough time to get to Shanhaiguan, since I thought that it would take 1 hour for the bus number 22 to pass 27 bus stops. However, it took only half hour. In the waiting room, I waited for 40 minutes, during which I got a little hungry and got some food to eat. Half hour later, I arrived at the shanhaiguan train station by bullet train. Out of the exit, I saw there was a bus stop opposite. I took the bus number 25 to Laolongkou bus stop and I got off there. Across a crossroad, I came to a scenic area called Laolongkou. Beside the road, there is a garden where people were taking photos. Since it’s much earlier than I had thought, I went to a small restaurant and ordered a pancake with smoked meat in it and a cool noodles to eat. It spent me 25 Yuan in total. The food there was ok. I was not going to buy tickets to visit parks, but was just walking around, hoping that I would find a way to the sea. On the map, I found the way at the south of the crossroad. I was walking along the road and went through a defensive wall. After a few minutes, a beach came into my sight. There, the locals run the business like riding horses on the beach. I felt the sand is very soft somewhere on the beach, as I walked down to the beach covered with sundried seaweeds as well as some pebbles. As I kept walking to the south of the beach, I came to the scenic area Laolongtou Defensive Wall, but I didn’t go inside. Instead I walked to a rock near the sea, on which there are a lot of sea snails and shells. I sat down on the one sea waves could not impact on, just to have a good look at the sea before I left Qianghangdao Island. A yacht went by me at a quick speed, with white waves behind. At further distance, different-sized ships were sailing on the sea, with the sunlight shinning on it.

When I passed by the train station nearby by bus number 21, I saw very high defensive walls and gate buildings. Since I stayed in Xian for 7 years, they are very familiar to me when I saw them. Getting off at the yingwen bus stop, I planned to have lunch, but the restaurant I went to had been pulled down. Therefore, I had to go shopping with an empty stomach. Going through the city gate of Yingenmen, I saw the West Street where shops are all designed very traditionally with woods. At the end of the street, there is a tourist attraction that is visited each by people from around the world. A friend of mine took a picture of me in front of an ancient building and the trip was almost over. Having looked at time, I found that there was much more time left for me to walk around, than I had thought before, so I just took my time to do it. Every few minute, I could see simple retail shops which have no fence, with a broad at the door on which its retailed goods are written in white chalk. As time went by, it’s dinner time.

The trip in Qinghuangdai Island ended at 8 pm with my having dinner at a restaurant with a good view.

  • Yaoli Ancient Town in Jiangxi Yaoli Ancient Town in Jiangxi Province

    • From: x123456
    • Description:

Located in the northeast of the Jingdezhen Ancient Town in Jiangxi Province, Yaoli which is well-known for porcelains is a tourist attraction with national AAAAA level , a national forest park, a famous ancient town, and also a historical and cultural protection site, covering an area of 195 square kilometers. The climate is very pleasant in four seasons in the scenic area where there are more than 94 percent of dense forests, and more than 180 kinds of rare animals and plants, such as maidenhair trees, Chinese torreya trees, leopards, giant salamanders and so on..

In the early morning in winter, it’s very freezing. One day, one idea came across my mind that I would like to experience a primitive life and folk customs by leaving the busy city for a small ancient town in Jiangxi Province. Having lived in the city for a long time, sometimes I just want to leave there for some time and give myself a holiday. In an ancient town in Jiangxi, there are many beautiful landscapes.

Perhaps, few of people know about the ancient town Yaoli, but most of them heard about Jaingnan. If someone wants to find a quiet and beautiful ancient town to visit, actually it’s not difficult so long as you look for it hard. The ancient town Yaoli is the one you may look for.

In my mind, Yaoli is a name full of dreams for me and also a place mysterious I look forwards to visiting.

From what I know about why it’s mysterious, it lies at the fact that the ancient town Yaoli is a very tranquil place with a very long history, where buildings are those built in Ming and Qing Dynasties and also there is a river called Yao River, which is a water source of the town.

For the ancient town, it has a lot of history stories. While walking in the gallery of a building of Ming and Qing Dynasties at the banks of Yao River, I felt a wind was coming to me, with overhanging eaves, ancient walls, black tiles, and mountains around me reflected on the river, as if I had traveled back to the past of thousand years ago.

In the early morning, the sun is shinning on the town. Listening to streams and standing on a single-plank bridge, I was watching women were washing clothes at the river and heard music coming from those ancient houses from time to time. It’s just like an idyllic scene.

  • A trip in Dali A trip in Dali

    • Description:

The autonomous prefecture of Dali which is located in Yunnan Province is an undeveloped and extensive territory in the southwestern part of China, with an area of 29459 square meters, abundant natural resources, beautiful landscapes, and mild climate.

It was in March 2011, when I went to Kunming in Yunnan Province to live. One day, all of sudden, one ideal came across my mind that I would like to visit Dali. I didn’t know why I love it more than Lijiang. Maybe that’s because the air there is much more fresh and there are less busyness and noise. What’s more, Dali is famous for its fresh air and mild climate.
In the evening on Friday in March 25th 2011, I took a train to Dali, where I spent a week travelling and I had a lot of fun during the short trip.

It would be better to go to Dali in March if you like, because it often rains from May to October and also a lot of traditional events of Bai ethnic groups are normally held there in March.

Having spent a night on the train, I woke up at dawn in the next morning and arrived at the train station of Dali. I had reserved a less expensive hotel on the Internet after checking out prices. It’s a two-floored hotel where it’s 50 Yuan for a night, there are individual bathrooms, 24 hours’ hot water service and internet access are provided. On the second floor, you are able to overlook ancient towns of Dali.

On the first day, I went to Tianlongbabu Studio City, a scenic area which is situated at a holiday resort of the provincial level. It’s composed of three parts, including the Dali scenic spot where you are able to see Dali Street, Dali Palace, and Zhennan Prince City, Liao scenic spot where there is an ancient gate, and Xixia Palace’s scenic spot. What’s more, you can ask someone to take a picture of you who wear costumes

After that, I visited Zhangjia Garden. It’s a newly-developed scenic spot where facilities and buildings are all brand-new. As a matter of fact, it’s worth a visit.

Having entered Zhangjia Garden, I watched singing and dancing performances a little bit. And a kind of famous tea from Dali can be tasted for free and it’s called Sandao Tea. while you are visiting, it’s easy to get lost in the garden, where courtyards are very delicate and there are all kinds of flowers, most of which are rare. In addition, it’s called the First Garden of Yunnan surrounded by camellia, rhododendron, and lakes.

Last, having visited some scenic spots in Dali, I went back to the Ancient Town of Dali to hang about at the West Street where the streets all look similar and there are many shops.

The trip in Dali ended like that. Although I went to a lot of scenic spots to visit, I didn’t feel any tired.

  • A trip in Macao A trip in Macao

    • From: x123456
    • Description:

I have been to Macao many times and know everything well there. However there are still some of places I have never been to. Last time, I went to Macao to revisit Venetian Hotel,  and Ruins of Saint Paul's, but Guia Fortress is the scenic spot I have never been to for a visit. When I went through customs pass, it was already 10:30 in the morning. After I reached Macao, I exchanged RMB for Macao dollars at an exchange shop. I saw through a window on the right side of the custom pass hall that a lot of hotel shuttle buses that take tourists to hotels for free were parking there and took one of them to the Venetian Hotel of Macao the layout of which is designed like Venice.

In the hotel, there are a lot of arch bridges, small canals and stone roads that are designed like those in Venice. On the third floor, it’s a very big shopping center, where diamond rings like the brand TIFFANY are sold at 40 thousand Macao dollars. Therefore it seems that I should work harder to be able to buy that kind of ring. And then I went to Guia Fortress to visit. I took a bus there to go to the LulianRuo Park and then to the Erlonghou Park for visit. In the Erlonghou Park, cable cars are provided to take tourists to the top of the Songshan Mountain for them to overlook the beautiful views of Macao. It’s only 3 Macao dollars for a return thicket and it’s so cheap. It was when I took cable cars for the first time.

Guia Fortress is located on the top of Dongwangyang Mountain, on which you are able to overlook the whole peninsula of Macao. There are also many air-raid shelters which are opened for people to visit.

After that, I went to Avenida de Almeida Ribeiro. On the way to Ruins of Saint Paul's, I passed by Tower Stone Square, and Central Library of Macao. At 3 in the afternoon, I immediately went to a cake shop to buy some cheese cake, because each time I went to Macao and I would buy some, for it tastes really good.

What’s more, I went to a famous beef offal restaurant which has many subbranches, to eat some beef offal. However, it’s much more expansive than before. After that, I went some shopping.

This trip in Macao ended with being on my way home by flight.
