Why are they fishing a car out of the Seine River in Paris? Je ne sais pas...
Sunday on the banks of the Seine
Paris is the City of Light and a stroll along the Seine at night brought us to this romantically-lit bridge. In the midst of a vibrant, bustling city, this scene was still and almost spookily empty of people at midnight. It's one of my fond memories of a beautiful city and a wonderful trip.

While floating up the Seine River on our Uniworld River Cruise I was struck by a number of homes on the riverbank. The two women and the girl seemed so relaxed. The water ski and dock caught my eye and I imagined a day of water skiing and resting in the afternoon sun. The building looked renovated with that large window inviting the sunlight into the center of the home.
When we thought river cruise we didn't expect to see moments of daily life on the Seine River. This is one of two homes that struck me as our Uniworld cruise ship floated past. This one was ivy covered and rustic. A older person was working on the flowers. There was an air of pride in the landscape and the care of this home.

These are some pictures of our recent 8-day stay in Paris in May of 2009.
As if the Eiffel Tower were not already beautiful, they light it up at night with lights that intermttently twinkle so that the entire structure sparkles. It is, after all, the City of Lights.
